originally released in a limited edition of 500 copies in 1982 monoton’s second album ‘monotonprodukt 07’ is now a collector item and also one of the most important album of all-time. it has been voted one of the 100 best records by highly influential uk magazine the wire. monoton was founded in 1979 by hypermedia wizard konrad becker as an art project that underwent various transformations and collaborations in its exploration of psycho-active sound. a pioneer in experimental electronic music, becker continued to break new ground in electronic media. monotonprodukt 07 has been reissued on vinyl by desire (and is still available as a double picture-discs limited to 500 copies. it’s the first time ever that tracks from the album are remixed and desire is proud to had such great artists/producers as us prositutes, svengalighost with fellow partner and l.i.e.s. boss and hospital productions artist ron morelli. the last remix is the work of great mancunian duo rainer veil (modern love). an incredible remix package that do justice to this classic album ! mastered by matt colton at alchemy.

coup d etatais a collaborative project from kane ikin and harvey sutherland. working from their respective fringes of electronic music and produced in moments of respite between extensive touring and recording commitments, the project offers a glimpse into the pair s mutual influences and inspirations part maurizio, part moroder. kane ikin, a meticulous producer of abstract forms and polyrhythms, weaves percussive static and drone amongst sutherlands considered syntheziser work, a leftfield turn from harvey s brighter moments. ikin also traverses new rhythmic territory and signals a departure from earlier ambient works. the inaugural release for new imprint cdt, the 12inch was mastered by matt colton at alchemy and features full sleeve artwork from traianos pakioufakis.

last spotted together on the cut some three years ago with their eponymous debut lp, the crew like kaidi tatham, akwasi mensah, matt lord, and dego ‘ranks’ mcfarlane reunite for this fresh 2000black 12&#8243,,,,,. off the christmas card list is apparently a precursor to a second album from the quartet and it’s the last 12&#8243,,,,, in a fine year for 2000black that saw the killer dego lp as the centrepiece. the a-side is dedicated to the title cut, an endlessly slinky boogie number that really showcases the collective musicality of this crew, whilst the b-side is split between “hurry whilst they are away” and “fila high”. the former is bugged out beat down west london-style, and the latter a killer latin-flecked cut.

uk house veteran phil asher arrives on rekids with the latest project in his storied career, a collaboration with emergent london poet & musician james massiah. having chanced upon him a performance during a fiona bevan presents night at dalstons servants jazz quarters, asher immediately approached massiah about a possible collaboration: as soon as i heard james i knew i had to work with him. his poetry is infectious, textured & interesting. time & space took years to imagine but 25 minutes to write. it took james approximately the same amount of time to lay his poem down. asher approached matt edwards with the results, and the time & space ep was confirmed for release on rekids: two original cuts of futuristic house emboldened by massiahs electrifying street poetry, and a reprise version of the title track which steps away from the dancefloor to bring the lyrical content into sharper focus
