almost 10 years have passed since onra arrived with the charmingly eccentric chinoiseries lp. 32 hip-hop beats formed the sample-based project dusty chinese vinyl hissing and crackling throughout resulting in an intriguing and spontaneous mix of the producers interest in exploring a newly-discovered style of music with his love for classic hip-hop production. using the style of analogue mpc production combined with the somewhat restrictive record sampling of strictly chinese music records, he has been able to be creative over three volumes, an amount of 100 instrumentals, despite the challenge of finding more obviously standout samples in chinese music. the chinoiseries projects are the type of albums that invites the listener to play it from beginning to end, in order to really enjoy the trip and appreciate the variety of rhythms and textures spread over those 32 short instrumentals. in that way, pt.3 is no different to its predecessors, but the originality of the samples, the curious harmonies and the odd-drum patterns still makes the album sounds as fresh as the first one. onra finishes this epic trilogy with class as a result of extended record digging across the far east and the producer s own development over the preceding 10 years.

legendary dj daniele baldelli, who was resident at the infamous cosmic club on lake garda and pioneer of the cosmic sound, joins forces with italian maestro dj rocca and takes file under disco on a journey into outer disco space. famous as an extremely eclectic and open-minded dj, here baldelli transports this approach to the production of funkynoizer . and in the hands of a master producer like rocca the result is a track which fuses dub, afro, disco and electronic elements seamlessly into a tasty alternative discoid brew. remix action comes from brasilian duo selvagem (big fans of baldelli) whose reputation grows and grows with every spin of each record and every release that passes through their talented hands. here they dress the original in leopard skin pants and throw into into an all night, outdoor carnival party where anything goes. next up pete herbert & dicky trisco take the original on a heads down disco trip and work it to the bone. live driving bass, funky clav and a glorious piano line do a wonky waltz with the the afro dub essentials of the original. finally the man himself dj rocca treats us to a very classy disco-boogie version that would have rocked legendary parties back in the halcyon days of nyc disco

brainwaltzera debuts on film. the anonymous producer, whose work has has already received online approval from legendary british idm auteur aphex twin, offers up an extended ep for the berlin based imprint. in 2015 a soundcloud profile under the name user18081971 - now identified as belonging to richard d. james, commented on curious brainwaltzera upload quilat spring 1 outtake. the move prompted speculation as to who exactly is behind the music. exquisitely produced and executed in such fine fashion so as to decry pure imitation - there�s plenty to theorise here. regardless of their true creator - which will undoubtedly remain a secret for the time being, the compositions on film006 are of similarly high calibre. varied in approach and marrying both electronic & acoustic elements with ease, the six tracks that comprise the record range from yearning ambient segues and dreamy down tempo grooves to otherworldly krautrock and more direct, dance floor fare - but remain bound tight as a cohesive and functional body of work by a glorious, arcane musicality. whether weaving soft electronic tones in and amongst snappy breaks or detuned drum-machine strikes, the artist�s ear for acoustic harmony is perhaps the pervading theme across the six tracks that make up the aecoba ep, marking it out as an excellent addition to the film labels growing catalogue

subonation of perjury is the latest in the series of heart wreching techno releases from dubiosity for planet rhythm. like always, this release is heavily concentrated on touching synths and growing melodies that might leave the listener in a euphoric gaze. it�s dubiosity�s signature to combine dark and intense techno rhythms with layers of melodic goodness. throughout the whole ep this style is present. elysian fields is the darkest cut of them all but also here a vivid choir comes through to mellow things down. pjotr g and dubiosity join forces for a remix of remy kruyer�s ho chi minh on the b2.

the remixed tracks from ascetic�s second album �everything is becoming� are a collision between industrial techno, ebm influenced bass lines, doom and dark ambient. four berlin based artists: ancient methods, phase fatale, unhuman & luna violenta offer their take on the two opening tracks �utterings� and �exegesis� from the album. roared vocals, guitar both jagged, creepy and ambient, live drums and samples are all melted down and reformed into at times recognizable and at times wholly alien compositions, ancient methods, phase fatale and unhuman offer different approaches to techno punishment while luna�s interpretation is a cacophonous build that explodes into sonic abstraction. this ep is a perfect example of what berlin does so well, where genres that share aesthetic values feedback, overlap and inspire.

for the labels ninth release, deep a & biris black crow records revisits one that helped establish the labels direction back in the imprints first year. bcr003, insular realms by fellow israeli producer hakimonu, was praised by many including resident advisor, who said the ep proved his off-kilter take on techno and house is as vibrant and inviting as ever. now in 2017, deepa & biri have invited mind against, luigi tozzi and echologist (aka dub techno veteran brendon moeller) to all rework the original version of insular realms for 2017. first up are life & death�s mind against, with one of the fognini brothers most direct techno productions yet, with a mid-track moment of calm before the intensity resumes. luigi tozzi, the rome-based producer who has had previous outings on dynamic reflection and dino sabatinis outis music, contributes the second remix. taking the lead from the originals more ethereal moments, his version is dreamy & almost wistful as it propels along its shaking rhythm. the b-side offers two takes from brendon moeller in his echologist guise, with a dub mix that twists the original into an acid-inflected track that slowly ratchets up the tension over its seven minutes, while the reshape breaks things down into a churning rhythm peppered with flashes f off kilter sonic details.

after starting out with eps showcasing tracks by various artists, invite�s choice is back with a 3 track ep by drafted.
the ep is opened by detached with it�s dominating, repeating tom/percussive low-end sound. the frequential spectrum is filled up by other percussive elements and reverb-filled effects, which give the track a spacious feel. oxidian starts out in your face with it�s droning and repetitive synth. the track evolves into an abstract apogee with intense synthesis before it breaks down again, allowing for a smooth mix to be made. sphere closes down this 3-track ep on the b-side and does so with lots of fast changing hi-hat and ride patterns and one sharp sounding synthesizer, which makes it a perfect b-side closing track. once again a great showcase of sustainable modern day electronic music by invite�s choice!

jean-louis huhta and joachim nordwall are high boys. together they share a deep interest in old school techno acid, aswell as electronic experimentalism and insane electro-acoustics. they want to make music that will mess with your mind, and make you move while your skull is melting. together they have served in the ritual rock group the skull defekts for over a decade but this is their first own project together. huhta also does is killer project dungeon acid amongst other important things, and nordwall runs his ideal label since 98 and makes electronic music alone and with other heads. high boys will not change the musical or political climate but they will make you feel... different.

cuthead have, over the last few years released all kinds of gritty house and hip hop beats but normally through his friends over at uncanny valley. we re now overjoyed to offer you his first ep on local talk and honestly, it s everything we could ve hoped for. spread out over four tracks you get a real dirty basement jam (fuck that shit), a sample friendly house nugget (get down) and a melodic 4/4 tune that sounds like if cuthead and our old friend hnny hooked up in the studio together it got that lil sweet twist we all love! to round off the ep we also included something extra special for the beat heads, a jazzy instrumental hip hop number (what can i say). a pretty good debut on local talk if you ask us
