a surprising house release, muredo, an ep with a generous acoustics in which the rythm is frontal but the story is told just behind. the raf are two habitual offenders of the well done track. when the muredo track slowly wakes you up and meticulously tries hard to describe the morning gestures, murefa carry on with a breathless ride. the second inspiration is only taken when everything had come to an end, in a calmness orchestrated by val at the helm of an abstract groovy remix. this ep is the first signature on the recent french label seconde and a lot of things are supposed to come soon.

drumma keeps delivering special and serious tracks for the dancefloor with its fifth vinyl release. for this ep, jorge savoretti, owner of savor records from argentina gives us an amazing trio of productions. the titular track of the ep, tai ere, is an amazing dub-techno composition that builds up and grooves continuously teasing and titillating the listener.the two machines compositions are gritty techno tracks that get the party going. machines 02 is a relentless hi-hat driven track that can be dropped at peak time. machines 00 is the more relaxed of the two a-sides but no less stimulating than its counterpart. a powerful vocal sample and bassline combine perfectly to make a bomb track.

another clever techno release with emphasis on quality and structure and not forgetting the input from detroit dub merchant luke hess. *terminator reserve* is dominated by a thick bass line, razor sharp percussion, devastating juno stabs and with tonnes of analogue warmth coming from its abyssal depths. the luke hess remix provides the deep qualities of the original however its much more repetitive in its nature making it truly hypnotic and one you cannot help but get completely lost in. on the b side *mediator* is rough and ready ... booming kicks, dynamic bass shifts accompanied by the right amount of snare and filter inputs make this one of the toughest on the release not forgetting that its split down the middle with a heavy 303 bleed. highly recommended! *stilled* runs off in the opposite direction to the other track it shares the b with as its laden with detroit influenced floating chords and percussion.

myk derill (knotweed, reform, etc.) is one of the most interesting dub-techno artists! here he offers two great tracks of high quality and class. never hard but never soft. the release is completed by a fantastic remix signed by markus suckut (figure spc, sckt,etc.)his remix is a clear reference to the atmosphere of the past, with his usual class! another good step for fluxus records.

brimming with subversive energy, searing wit and gallows humour, *luftbobler* is the debut album by dinos chapman. consisting of 13 tracks of electronic schlampige musik, *luftbobler* is the result of a decade of experimenting with sound. inspired by insomnia, horror movies and boredom, and made in a diy fashion in the basement of his east london home, *luftbobler* reflects dinos chapmans interests in the industrial pulse of throbbing gristle, willful experimentation of stockhausen and impish playfulness of squarepuscher, but sounds like none of them.

tropics a.k.a. chris ward first appeared on planet mu last year, following up two eps with the album parodia flare. commended by pitchfork for his lush soundscapes and hazy pop, whats clear with tropics is that he listens to a lot of dance music and he cares about production values. the synth and beat programming is as competent as anything out there, and he avoids lazy indie stylings and one button bontempi organ beats – his are crafted songs, much of the pleasure lying in his gift for dynamic arrangement, which is a joy amid rafts of useful formulaically assembled house tracks.
in common with the general post-financial collapse vibe there is less sunshine in this ep than before, and he has absorbed something from a year of intensive house music listening, but chris essential qualities remain a forward-looking wistfulness, hope beneath melancholy, something even more acutely needed now than before. oh look! here comes winter.

all tracks written & produced by ark (guillaume erroyer) and pit spector (pierre deniel) 4-track package from exciting new duo ark & pit spector. made up of brothers ark, the parisian known for his pioneering releases on perlon and karat, and pit spector, an up and coming producer, they join forces on their debut ep for eclectic label hold youth. true to the hold youth ethos the ep calls on a number of different influences, from the smooth, funk-led vibes on tournsoul, to the techno-inspired sounds of seuils remix of the nuts. ark & pit spector explore all that is sexy and hypnotic through the subtle but effective all green, while more down-tempo the nuts is verging on 80s-esque wonky-pop. seuil steps up for his take on the latter and delivers a dark, murky and all together sinister version of the original, adding a pulsating bassline to compliment the stripped back edit of the vocal. forward-thinking and open-minded sounds, old futur is another worthy addition to the hold youth catalogue.

last year kyodai dropped breaking, which to date is the biggest selling release on local talk. now the brothers are back with in our opinion a future house anthem. the scene is a classic piano house cut that’s impossible to resist and together with one the coolest vocal samples we’ve ever heard we think this has the potential to go really big. when the breakdown drops we’re pretty sure everybody in the club will chant. but as if this was not enough we also got another big tune on the b-side. moving is the continuation of “breaking” and goes along the same lines with its crossover jazz styled house. once again kyodai delivers a supa solid house production with large jazz breakdowns and old school vocals that’s right up their with ”breaking”. this is also why we called it…breaking pt.2. kyodai is currently working on their debut album for local talk which is due later this year. they’re also travelling around the world with their amazing live dj set that we highly recommend. trust us when we say that these two brothers really now how to turn up the heat in a club…serious biz!

with a title such as passage17, we can rest assured that reeko wants to take us somewhere, into the depths of something. he wants us to know this long road is rife with a variety of sensations, but more than anything this new release is a journey into something more important that is yet to come. if we want to get there, we must first travel this road.

quality limited reissue of this classic lp from californian singer/songwriter, ned doheny. though beloved of the recent balearic scene with fans including harvey, lexx, moonboots et al, ned was under-appreciated during his own era with this superlative lp only ever securing a vinyl release in japan, making it a seriously hard to get hold of album but definitely worth the effort. following on from his iconic hard candy lp, 1979 s prone is again bursting with californian sun-soaked gems showcasing doheny s signature laidback funky musical style and relaxed unpolished vocals. from quality soulful groovers such as think like a lover and if you only knew through to the sophisticated disco sounds of sweet friction and funky love , there s not a filler in sight but the icing on this tasty west coast cake has got to be dj s favourite - the great jazz-funk floor-filler to prove my love . an essential album - don t miss!

easily recognizable by his impassioned johnny cash-meets-charlie feathers vocals, the french-born don cavalli began to get any notice in the greater music and blog community when he released his full-length *cryland* (2007), which featured his amalgamation of swamp blues, lo-fi pop, country gospel, and early rock & roll. in 2013, don cavalli will release his new studio album *temperamental*, staying on blues track while dismantling the traditional codes of the field. indeed, thanks to an old fashioned sound take and a contemporary production, don cavalli makes his new album sound old but incredibly modern. and if *temperamental* goes through many kinds of sounds, in the end it always goes straight to the point: a unique cajun blues from the bayou serving a soul and sophisticated voice. a must-have!

mark broom continues his legacy as one of the uks finest producers with another outstanding ep on bek audio. after the flying success of >eye of the tiger< & >stag<, mark broom makes his third outing on gary becks bek audio label with the >salvo ep<. mark broom has a long and illustrious career in uk techno. his 20 years experience not only shows in his sculptured releases, but also in the imprints he has worked with over these years, namely pure plastic, theory rec, b-pitch control, soma, saved & cocoon.

profound techno with soul is what the heart of tim xavier is beating for. tim is not only our first choice when it comes to mastering with his company manmade mastering, but also because his second single on upon you records has hit the bulls eye.

the original first 50 weapons of choice cd has been released in summer 2010 as a cardboard sleeve, limited to 1000 individually numbered copies. previously on cd and digital only. in summer 2012 50 weapons has pressed a vinyl version as a very limited run of 150 hand stamped whitelabels only available through hard wax in berlin. since the original cd version as well as the vinyl are sold out now for quite some time, but are constantly asked for, it is time for a repress.
the second run of the 2x12 lp comes again as hand stamped whitelabels with an inside out sleeve. the second vinyl edition is again limited to 150 copies.

mule musiq now proudly presents eleven unreleased compositions by roedelius produced between 1990 and 2001. all of them are pearls of electronic deepness that show another side of the man that lives in the little lower austrian town baden. his famouse ultra sweet piano melodies can be heard – but they are not the centre of the productions. instead a more electronic side of his genius call the tune. with a minimalistic approach he let synth melodies highfly while some droney, melancholic atmospheres enlarge in the background.

with releases under a range of pseudonyms (orpheus, sir leon greg, nite vision) and support for his previous explorations of depth coming from the likes of john heckle, dj deep, aroy dee, chicago skyway and steffi to name but a few, once again perseus traxx unashamedly shows his nature on this release. thoughts, feelings and emotions are by far the most important influences on music, and capturing moments then translating into a musical form he once again documents the more personal elements of his life, taking you deep. perseus weaves a rich tapestry of emotions and desires using heavily weighted bass tones and skipping percussion that thread together with expansive strings and pads. these are married with more detailed melodies and modulated tones that shimmer in and out of the psyche as he uses analogue boxes and their warmth like a loom. this collection of music ranges from the deep and dreamy, to total transcendence within steady dance floor rhythms clothed in a warm yet spacious fabric of sound. deep house, sometimes with a real sense of urgency that juxtaposes with it is inherent flights of fancy.

nice price deal !!! every once in a while a particular record will land in our laps which we have very little information on but usually somebody will unearth its origins after a bit of homework and more often than not it turns out to be a relatively well-known producer operating under a new and secret pseudonym. what we are looking at here however, seems to be quite the enigma. one can only speculate as to who watkins & almadovar might be.

the first release on project squared in a year, *make your mess* is a three track ep by melbournes craig mcwhinney. craig has been making music for years and releasing since the late 2000s on melbourne labels such as pinksilver, melbourne deepcast and his own haul music, also on labels based further afield such as brendon moellers steadfast and speedy js electric deluxe. craigs music is techno, but it isnt preoccupied with the 4/4, employing broken, swung and rolling drum patterns. his tracks often include melodic and harmonic elements and effects reminiscent of dub techno but without conforming to the pastiche template of the sub-genre. the make your mess ep is composed of the core title track and two additional tracks that arose as interpretations and variations on the initial production: *provocation is an excuse* is more furious and loud, *disengage* is more restrained. all three are around 125 bpm and were produced in the space of a month between september and october 2012.

four releases in now and the quality continues on midnight love club! montel presents the forth release in the shape of 3 heavy duty club cuts with a rather distinct nod to the house sound of 90s nyc/nj. there s not too much info on this montel character, but one thing we do know is that he s a man with a penchant for vintage house & garage. a dj, collector and producer that has decided to give back a little after all these years. and these years of experience are certainly evident in his authentic house and garage sound that has already picked up a fan base that includes bicep, jordan peak and waze & odyssey!

macchina nera an mysterious alpine character already gave a guest appearance at pam 15.5 besides the label boss anette party. now it is his turn to rev up. and you just hold his debut ep in your hand.

just one touch has been a long time coming but it emerges as a classic ode to house past and present. porto based producer social disco club was sat on the track for two years before miss bee added her dusky vocals. frayed and taught with emotion, her voice works in harmony with the gritty analogue sounds that drive the track.

limited pressing of 300!! mysterious bufiman and the glorious tim schumacher on the label that fully dedicate itself to the underground house sound. bufiman delivers two magical tracks that blend analogue disco, fantastic house and heavy tribal voodoo rhythms to create something very special in electronic dancemusic - we call it obscure discohouse, he calls it monkey b-boy-style. tim schumacher is representing on this record his very own interpretation of chicago-house and brings us three driving tracks that are rooting deeply in the love for analogue sound production of the late 80ies, no matter if its house, disco or synth-pop, but always with a very personal approach to what house-music is all about: emotions. on the last track no less than dj jakob from terpsiton/vfmm is jamming together with tim and two other friends in a dadaistic session

like the satisfying first sip of soda water spritz, roland tings debut ep, *milky way*, bubbles, barms, and beads through your body. roland tings is rohan newman, a melbourne producer who, like recent rubies holy balm, forces, and canyons, proves there is just more and more greatness behind the great and powerful oz. melodic acid trips doused with swish-ticky-booms, like a rubber ball in space with endless bump and bounce. sweet off his japanese jaunt, speeding things down with sapphire slows shows, newmans taste is pure effervescence and buoyancy. but he has got a percussive stickiness as well, a vim/vigor that raps and rips through trax touch-ups and echo-plexes. not the nineties but the none-ties – no glimmer glam, or sampladelic vocal vacations, or happy house heartbeats. he ends the creamy *milky way* with a brilliantly wonky theme that springs like a wind-up toy gone loose. roland tings, dings, and zings.

rummage in some boxes of my favourite record store i found a cover that made me curious. l kubic & tagträumer² - the only thing in this world and on the flipside a remix by alle farben. when placing the needle at the beginning of the vinyl the first sounds were very strange. i thought that must be a record from the 60s lost in the tech-house box but than a straight beat turned everything different. a piano melody slowly sat down firmly in my ear and i was longing to know where the journey takes me. after a while an acidline pushed everything and i was sure at this time this is not a normal 4/4 tech-house record. alle farben remixed the themes very playful and i heard that he gives the elements more pressure for the club. so at the end i bought this one and i cannot imagine taking this unique record ever again out of my record case.

cynics felix dickinson resurrects his cult bastedos edits label for a serious double-header! it has been a seven year hiatus since the last release on the label, but felix has unearthed a duo of deadly dancefloor weapons for the sixth release. limited as ever - these wont be around for long!

following the acclaimed removing dust ep, here is volume 2. this release is the second part of the album removing dust released separately as 12inchs, with the same tracks from the album. main news on this 12inch is b1 cover of molokos *sing it back*, with the astonishing voice of the huge, not a voice competion but a tribute to one of the best bands of our time.
