this obscure lost soundtrack for an even more obscure (and also lost and never finished) italia violenta cop movie was recently discovered when i bought the dusty reel tapes from a restaurant owner in fiumicino, a seaside town near rome. panter 777 aka il labirinto di roma violenta aka the maze of violence, he told me, was directed by gervasio giardano in 1981 and was considered too (politically) explicit by the movie production company who dropped the project after the first screening. the soundtrack, an explosion of wahwah funk riffs and juicy analog synthesizers, was composed by an obscure band called nacho patrol. the restaurant owner, who wishes to remain anonymous, was one of the band members and composed most of the tracks. young up start and london based enfant terrible l vis 1990 engineers bass fuelled dance music designed to make your ears bleed! a pioneer of his own hyper bass sound, that sonically fuses aspects of dance music that have inspired him over the last 6 years ?garage, electro, b more, ghetto tech and drum & bass, his sound is unmistakable. the majority of the l vis 1990 ep was made on his laptop, on the 8am train commute from brighton to london, and finished off at the stereo mcss studio in brixton. further musical affiliates are sinden, herve, duke dumont, switch et al, as well as math head aka passions ny, philadelphias starkey, and early dubstep pioneer vex d (planet mu), the latter of whom spoke of l vis? change the game as a track that really struck a chord, totally made me think about new ways of doing shit...

antoine husson aka electric rescue is a long time collaborateur and friend of heckmann, promoter and organizer for the famous rex club in paris, labelowner of the more than successful skryptöm records and last but not least dj and musician. he here hits afulimited with his first release and thats already creating a big buzz! with a little help by heckmann himself to get the crazy ideas into shape, antoine finally delivered three very unusual and unheard tunes, that people are asking for strongly already. lazy dog with its building craziness and wicked sounds starts off like a hurricane. theres not much

time to look busy again, as function aka dave sumner comes rampaging through the streets of downtown berlin, kicking aside lesser producers and mauling all who stand in his way. not that you would know it from the supremely controlled affair that is his edit of >variance<. moody in the extreme, this edit sees beautiful interplay between delays and reverbs but without the track sinking into the predictable mire of dub techno. space is indeed the place..

after three sought after singles for the whatever we want label ? plus remixes for the likes of gorillaz, fran?ois k and cosmo vitelli ? quiet village step out of the shadows to present their much anticipated debut album, silent movie. comprised of master crate digger joel martin and rising dance music star matt edwards (aka radio slave), and borrowing their name from martin dennys exotica masterpiece, quiet village make the old sound new (and vice versa).

there is no doubt that leipzig is a pulsating place in terms of electronic music. however, the potential of the city seems to be experiencing a new surge - not least due to up-and-coming producers like sven tasnadi and stefan schultz aka juno6. both belong to the generation of musicians who initially released their tracks for free on net-labels but have since have made the leap to vinyl. while sven tasnadi has already released great eps on liebe*detail, smallville records and of course on cargo edition, juno6 just recently made his debut with >salamis< in spring 2008 on broque. now they have joined forces with their first collaboration for cargo edition. both tracks on the ep are characterised by elaborate rhythms, a special deepness and intricately arranged sounds. >aramis< tells apparently different stories which merge seamlessly during its 14 minutes. the track also explores the hypnotic moments on the dancefloor in a very subtle and complex manner - reduced but full of vibrancy at the same time. >genau so< on the b-side takes a similar line, but adds a spark of funk, which combines to form its distinctive rhythm. sven tasnadi & juno6 have created two modern house tracks which are full of character.
