rekids begins 2016 with the launch of an exciting new talent. south korea-born dj and producer peggy gou has been honing her production skills since her days in london. now based in berlin, gou has drawn on her years of djing to help shape a sound that draws on detroit & nyc house, as well as the african rhythmic sensibility and boogie funk influences she shares with early sounds duo nu guinea, with whom she had piano lessons and sought production advice from as her music took shape. in addition to her work as a stylist and fashion producer, gou has also drawn on her art & design abilities to create the ep artwork.

finally the dudes behind the fantastic hell yeah recordings step out into the limelight on their own with their debut ep of on golf channel. and what a debut! tracks range from blissful, boogie influenced house music (adriatic bolt) to the 1992 style primal scream psychedelic chugging banger (quando) via sunny acid (quiet force) and deep emotional vocal led ambience (i don t care who you are). just as you d expect from the amazing sounds their label has put out over the years, this ep is uncategoriseable in the best possible way we look forward to hearing more from the aptly titled balearic gabba sound system, this is just an aperitivo, or is it a selection of antipasti. either way, it leaves you ready for the next course. golf channel every time!

following the release of the -eleccio- mix cd in 2014, especial has continued on it s path to develop and push a club sound that is slightly more leftfield than the on-going boompty house rehash, the mutation of nu-disco in to something a bit more proggy, trancey and the never ending thud-drug-chug of the 110 bpm ableton-for-beginners brigade, by offering a mixture of musically psychedelic, twisted, dubbed-out, proto-obsessed club eps.

coeo are to toy tonics records, what master at work were to the house scene of the 1990ies: they bring the soul into the house. their new ep back in the days is a 4 track house stomper that could have been made in 1997 by guys like sneak, dimitri from paris or little louie. but still the similarities to the new berlin sample-house scene around max graef and hodini are evident, too. already their last years superhit native riddim (which is featured as a bonus track on this vinyl) included some heavy jazz samples they found in their parents bag of soul. native riddim has been no.1 in the traxsource charts for several weeks and was the basis for their already huge following. from laurent garnier to tensnake - the feedback has been awesome. now they proceed their way of souldful house. just good taste.

reissue of the original konduko records release of early 80s miami producer noel williams sleazy disco funk classic >get down< with its awesome post disco/pre electro sound. this in-demand track, which was the standout on the hugely successful disco not disco series, literally has it all - a compulsive hypnotic combination of killer electronic bassline, catchy funk vocals and dirty in-ya-face synth stabs that positively wreck the dancefloor! ultra-rare and near-impossible to get hold of in the original, so grab one of these limited edition reissues while you can.

rezzett are arguably one of the trilogy tapes goto acts. the london duo has previously released a trio of impressive, off-kilter eps of fuzzy house and techno jams for will bankheads much-loved imprint. happily, zik zak is every bit as essential as their previous material, expertly blurring the boundaries between techno, experimental electronics, and distorted hardcore. while the drowsy-but-sweaty hey hugo all sampled vocal yelps, sweeping chords and clattering percussion is probably the most obviously ear-catching of the four cuts, theres plenty to get excited about elsewhere. check, for example, the intricate electronics and eyes-closed loveliness of the title track, and the fluid melodiousness of opener afyon or, for that matter, the comforting bliss of ep closer noklue.

under his chemotex alias, marcos cabral has been one of the trilogy tapes most productive artists in recent times. this is his third 12&#8243,,, for will bankhead’s imprint in less than 12 months. unlike cabral’s recent album for l.i.e.s, which reveled in its’ own distorted, balls-out intensity, thulsa strives to get a balance between becalmed techno hypnotism, skuzzy grooves and gently melodious intent. this blend is perhaps most satisfyingly mixed on the industrial-tinged clank of “delta city-, though the woozier, scuffled late night warmth of “music for security” pushes it close. twice he heads towards deeper territory, first on the title track’s trance-inducing synthesizer loop groove, and secondly on the dubby, locked-in tech-house majesty of “lorentz-.

ras g is one of the definitive producers of the los angeles beat scene, a co-founder of the poo-bah label, and hip-hop beat-maker who digs probably deeper than any into the worlds of free jazz, jazz fusion and afrofuturism. the prolific producer currently has two albums on brainfeeder, two released by poo-bah, and several on leaving records, including the beat tape series raw fruit. focused and expansive, el-aylien is a cosmic exhibit in ras g’s sonic explorations of collage and rhythm.

fresh goods from vc-118a. known as one of the deepest electronic producers out there, samuel has released under different monikers as mohlao, multicast dynamics and inward content (together with delta funktionen). here he presents a 6 track conceptual ep about ancient aviation machinery operated throughout turbulent times. but don t be mislead, this might be conceptualized in historical events, the music is far from a blast from the past. this is some pure futuristic hi-tech-electro from the north of the netherlands! for fans of warp and all other adventurous dj s out there...

the girl and the chameleon will probably fall under the genre tags of acid, electro and techno but it is so much more. witschkowski has been responsible for exemplary electronics throughout his career and this latest is undeniably some of his best. the album sees the exaltics don a dust mask. warehouse parties, strobe lights and fog machines and the 90s underground acid scene are definite influences. but theres more. across thirteen tracks and two slabs of wax the jena artist takes you on a journey into his world. gnarled and clinical grooves, caustic 303 encounters, depraved dancefloor destroyers and soothing machine music. a sonic trek through tough and taut textures with touches of tenderness. an album that shows a depth of ability, an enviable talent and a knowledge of how to break floorboards.

q3a is a new alias of route 8, a producer who has credits on labels like lobster theremin and nous as well as black venison. now the producer serves up a sumptuous four track ep, space chamber, on the delsin label and it touches on many different styles with equally great results. lost souls is first and is an expansive bit of well driven deep house with rich synths and cavernous innards that really suck you in. next up is another serenely crafted bit of atmospheric house with dusty drums and lose hits all backed with heavenly pads and retro bass. the first of the b-side tracks is a chunky acid kicker with angelic vocals drifting up top as a controlled 303 line rips up the foreground. spaced out and deep, driving yet emotive, it is a moving bit of club music before the b2 trips you out on a silvery electro tip with its icy lines and slap-funk snares. overall, this is an expansive and perfectly formed ep and comes with a sleeve by boris tellegen.

brendon moeller returns to third ear after some years, following up his lauded jazz junk safari trilogy of eps with 4 peak time bombs. all 4 tracks blow up the dance floor. brendon moeller known for his sound design, has taken his sonics to extremes on all four tracks, pushing, twisting and teasing frequencies to the limit. the bass on all tracks is phenomenal. it s just as well that a master engineer like pole has mastered these tracks, maxing out the sound yet protecting the sound systems that these bombs will be played on. super fun.

midwich is proud to present magas’s heads plus, the first proper vinyl release from james marlon magas since 2009’s violent arp. for the past several years, magas has been concentrating on instrumental production, eschewing vocal histrionics of previous work, in favor of moodier, more open-ended composition. this focus has resulted in the bombastic and hallucinatory heads plus, an all-instrumental wallop that fuses howling arp odyssey, capricious juno funk and fuzzed rhodes anchored to the ever-present throb of the roland tr-808 drum machine. freed from vocal constraints, heads plus conjures a cinematic ambience where light and dark wrangle for dominance in a dystopian post-techno near-future. plowing ahead with gleeful abandon, this 5-track ep is a take-no-prisoners statement of intent. heads plus is mastered by ruud lekx (rude 66) and cut by josh bonati at bonati mastering in nyc and comes housed in a eye-popping full-color uv gloss jacket featuring artwork by renowned sci-fi illustrator, mark salwowski. layout by designer beth hall. the vinyl release includes a download code.

on november 13th, pnn records will release the debut album of its most enigmatic artist myr. diamondbacks make wonderful pets is more than just a strange name, it nine tracks represent an exciting evolution in myr.s trajectory as an artist. following his debut ep nobody knows avalon myr. seems to have dug deep and discovered another level to his sound. each of the tracks on the record are confidently offbeat and precisely composed.a little-bitty bowl (with b.hotton), mixes thunder sound-effects with glitchy synth bleeps, layering them above darker tones which build to a perfect storm in the middle. this 10 minute track fails to get boring and is representative of the album as a whole. myr.s ability to carry off strange hybrids is what makes his music unique. from the ghostly warbles of i think i hear them coming to the sunnier sounds of eleanor, myr.s disregard for the norm has lead to an exceptional record that surprises at every turn.

immersed in the early days of the 90s midwest rave scene, bill converse began djing at a young age in lansing, michigan. luminaries such as claude young, traxx, and twonz were key early influences. since moving to texas in 1998, he has experimented with analog techniques in varied studio bunkers. early techno, noise, ambient, tape, and paranormal processing are all part of his uncanny sound palette.

sova stroj is the nom de plume of luxembourg-based producer michel flammant. with a history in black metal, rock and synth pop bands, he has now ventured out on his own, delving into experimental and electronic music. sova strojs debut album silent earth explores feelings of willful desertion through forty minutes of highly concentrated and almost teleologically dark ambient patterns. musically the album is centered around an abstracted industrial music influence paired with precise and evocative melodic and harmonic explorations

2015 has been a busy year for soul intent. relocating from nottingham to bromley, releasing -the fruit club ep- on lossless in march, his -wanna fight ep- dropped on klute s commercial suicide in august, the sci-fi themed -replicant- marked lossless music s first digital only release in october and his -late night sleaze ep- has been awarded mixmag s dnb tune of the month (nov 15 issue). on top of all this alex is about to launch two (yes two!!) sub-labels for lossless music. the first of these is exkursions. exkursions will cater for the deeper, more experimental side of dnb & electronic music. though concentrating it s tempo focus around the 170 mark exkursions will also be taking explorations down into slower soundscapes. the first release is a 3 tracker from soul intent and the tracks have already turned the heads of respected selectors including doc scott, presha, loxy and logistics. we won t say much for than that, we ll let the music do the talking.

after a slew of solo releases and a few comps, marshall applewhite has teamed up with fellow detroit native kero to put together a 4 track collaborative effort that explores both the new sludge phenomenon and the more classic detroit techno/electro sound. within 4 songs the two have covered a wide base of musical information. comprised of 2 parts modular gear, 2 parts homemade reaktor patchwork, and 1 part raw machine funk, sewer tracks gives a good representation of each players musical aptitude.

the last few years has seen parris make a name for himself across a number of scenes, to the extent he is just as likely to be found spinning records for butterz as he is putting records out on berceuse heroique. here at idle hands we first touched base with parris many moons ago when he bought copies of the first release on his soundman chronicles label into our shop. as it is one of our favourite labels we were intrigued to hear what he would come up with as producer himself. needless to say we were impressed. presented here are two tracks that perfectly reflect his sound and our own a nod to techno here, a weighty bass line there, a love of reverb everywhere and all with a view to being played in dark rooms late at night. the 12 inch of burr and blue is idle hands last release of 2015 and we think it rounds off nicely what has been a great year for the label.
