one of the holy grail of the minimal synth and one of the most obscure musical projects ever produced in italy is finally reissued on mannequin records. originally released in 1981 by broadbean records, a sub-label of lm records, flo & andrew only release take suicide was home-recorded and home-mixed by the duo in bologna, using early drum machines like the boss dr-55 and the korg kr-55, analog synthesizers, guitar, saxophone, tape loops. flo & andrew music is truly unique and exemplifies the fact that limitation can be the perfect source for creativity. the title-track and to committ suicid� travel through contort and nervous synth sounds and loops, taking somehow inspiration from the no wave heroes, while japanese girls is nothing less than a beautiful minimal electronics track in the mythology of the futuristic rise of japanese country. recently (re)discovered, �take suicide� is a milestone of the european minimal synth singles and is not really a coincidence that a young generations of producers take it as inspiration (you can see take suicide floating in the tracklist of artists as helena hauff and ngly). another must have in your collection / record bag! mastering by ruud 66.

doktu rhute muuzic (formerly roy hytower) has enjoyed a full career from his late teens to this present day, a career that spans over 50 years. his first experiences were singing around mobile, alabama. in 1962 he came to chicago, replacing mighty joe young as rhythm guitarist for otis rush. often adopting a soul-slanted sound, hytower cut a handful of 45rpm singles in the 1960s and 70s for several local labels such as avin, expo, brainstorm, and jiffy. in june 2016 his tune �song of deliverance� was featured on tramp�s �peace chant- compilation. in recent years roy hytower has self-released a couple of cds, however under his new moniker, doktu rhute muuzic. �i�m in your corner� and �tip jar� were released on two different cd albums. this is the only chance to get these two wonderful tunes on vinyl. don�t miss it!

new sounds from an old friend... i d been running franklin de costa s records for years, but after i played for his party in berlin a few years back we kept in touch. he runs a club night called mother s finest which puts on artists like tessela, truss, untold, dj fett burger and more, as well as releasing singles under his own name on labels like killekill and curle, and, as mudkid, beautiful tracks on greta cottage workshop. the three trax built for this ep on not so much are, like anything fresh and futuristic, hard to pin down in words. sssooo is a kind of detuned chattering b-boy cut that slides sideways between dimensions while always driving forward. mldk is another one for any dancers with moves.

desolat label boss loco dice is back with what is sure to be a massive autumn package: he has remixed the seminal dance track �go� by the legendary moby, twice, and has made it all his own in the process. moby needs little introduction: the american dance producer and live performer�s albums are classics of the genre that are celebrated far and wide. they have been used on thousands of adverts, have given rise to hit singles all over the world and have made him one of the most celebrated electronic music stars of our time. his �go� track was what started it all for him back in the 90�s, and was a bona fide club classic of the day. it still resonates today and always gets crowds going. now it has been remixed twice by loco dice, who has added his own stamp to it in distinctive fashion. his first excellent version is eight minutes of chunky and tribal drums, with rubber kicks, clipped horn stabs and big hits all building the pressure. those most famous vocal cries really finish it off in style, and ensure that dance floors will go wild whenever it is dropped, as do wonky synths and big piano chords at the breakdown. the second version is more emotive, with big sweeping strings smeared in the background to help make it all the more dramatic, teary eyed and impactful on the floor. this one is for the peak time in any set and is sure to make the most memorable moment of any night. both remixes here pack a real punch, and whilst remaining true to the original, they both sound just like you would expect from modern dance heavyweight loco dice.

ayman rostom has really taken to the maghreban, with a succession of singles for versatile and his own zoot label that have shown him fully capable of bringing his sampling talents to the realm of house, disco and techno. the latest missive from the maghreban comes on black acre, a label rostom has previous with after that superb library music lp as dr. zygote a few years back. two tracks deep, lose it presents all that we love about the maghreban, the title track sees a classic �girl i�m starting to lose it� phrase lifted off an early jungle classic from boogie times tribe assembled with a monstrous analogue bassline and plenty of feverish effects tweaking in the mix. �wrong move� is just as smart, delving into the darkest depths of rugged breakbeat science.

the second of this year�s smd singles on their own delicacies label is features another two original tracks, leading with the hypnotic, late night techno loping of �remember in reverse�, drenched in glistening synths. the second track, �soft attack� takes a much more direct approach, with a brash battering of crash cymbals on every 4th bar marking time as a sinuous synth melody curls around the rhythmatic trunk. �soft attack (drum version)� pares it down even further, excising the melody for a minimal dj tool. also included here is a remix of �remember in reverse� from 90s mid west techno legend, dj hyperactive, who we�re super excited to have on this release. he extensive 11 minute rework transforms the track, sprinkling it with subtle doses of acid. after a short hiatus following their modular-only, desert recorded last album �whorl�, during which smd s james ford found himself on production duties for everyone and their dog, smd are back with bunch of techno cuts on their own delicacies label. over a couple of months in jas shaw s newly re-located synth-dense studio in leafy kent, which saw smd once again experiment with live jams as the basis for their production, they�ve pulled together a selection of eight tracks for release as a series of four singles over the coming months. smd fans will note that the earlier naming convention of delicacies has fallen by the wayside � for the simple reason that we�ve pretty much run out of weird and wonderful food stuffs to steal names from. instead, a semi-random automated process has been used to create the track names.
