following on from the last dext limited release by otik & dead mans chest we’re kicking off 2019 in fine style with another limited 10” vinyl cut with the same ethos as the previous release’s , 1 rave banger with a killer remix on the flipside. this time we have invited glasgow s party starter and long-time label supporter nightwave to join the crew and it seems like she has been here all along. psychic tonic is exactly what we are all about rolling breakbeats and thunderous kick drums and is the perfect addition to the dext ltd series. and if that s not enough, another of our favourites jerome hill (super rhythm trax) comes along for the ride, and flips it totally on its head on the remix

it’s been three rough years since mirrors for psychic warfare sprang into existence with their startling self titled debut, but don’t think for a second that the time was spent idle, this unit (comprised of neurosis’ scott kelly and producer sanford parker) constructed an even more unnerving and destructive record with “i see what i became,” i know, hard to believe. over the course of these eight bile-rich pieces a sonic abattoir is erected, exploited, and razed. turbulence rises and churns giving way to rhythmic machinations, lights flicker, a grand mal/guignol seizure besets a frog-headed snitch, blood collects in a stainless steel gutter. claustrophobic sudor that evokes all you held dear from skinny puppy, foetus, godflesh, bath tub tina, and wondering where the fuck you will sleep, provided you ever do. there’s nothing fun here, nothing but the cold of an autopsy followed by the heat of a crematorium. a sliver of galvanized bone flies from a circular saw into the toothless maw of a streetwalking kali yuga. good or bad, i’m not sure what we did to deserve this.

making a debut appearance on our own invisible ep 6 compilation last year we re very happy to at last feature a full 4-track ep from the mysterious immaculate rivombo. again the music is filled with that signature sound of live african percussion and 303s but this time with additional thumb pianos, hypnotic vocals and spacey synth lines. purporting to be from burundi (for all we know this could be the product of an elaborate ruse emanating from berlin tbh) the enigmatic producer (he? she? they?) has once again excelled and produced an ep that manages somehow to sound uplifting and spiritual at the same time as it is deep, dark and dubby. whatever, the music s great and that s what matters. definitely one to watch out for. another great ep from invisible inc. trippy, far out sounds. my pick is b1.killer party tool!! if psychic health s self-titled debut album took the lessons the la duo learned in the teeming clubs of berlin and melbourne, their latest lp, exclusion, look inward, a document of the duo tunneling down the studio wormhole. as such, exclusion is a remarkably dynamic effort, adeptly jumping between evocative ambience (-jamaica 88,- -ryso-) and equally expansive dance floor fair. examples of the latter, such as the album s obvious centerpiece and titular track, exclusion, document gabriel mounsey and devon steffens’s harnessing modular beast technology for peak techno utility, finding a clear thoroughfare between the soaring strings of derrick may s classic transmat releases and ostgut ton s current ebm-inflected precision. as you d expect from mounsey s background in film composition, exclusion whirls with imagery. it s a los angeles album, but focuses on raw beauty of the city at night—the lights in the distance, and the desolate downtown streets where kickdrums often waft from disused warehouses. while their debut album opened notable doors for the group, landing distribution from hard wax and featuring in the netflix series sense8, exclusion is an altogether masterful turn for psychic health, their complete studio immersion easing the listener into deeply hypnotic states.

psychic advisor is a worldwide affair- mysterious makybee diva from down under, snad hailing from chicago, l amour fou on b1 the project of move d and his friends from taipeh benoit and marco plus last but not least arnaldo reppin berlin / uk / argentina, closing down the compilation on b2. you might consider this record as a clubnight from start to finish there is everything from slow euphoria to crystaline deepness, from shake everything-moments to different states of a sweet dream but it all fits as if it was bound together. full cover artwork as always by stefan marx.
