dieses herbert grönemeyer-live-album aus dem jahr 1995 enthält 18 songs, die auf der chaos-tour in den jahren 93 und 94 aufgenommen wurden. dementsprechend enthält die scheibe viele tracks des “chaos”-albums. ebenfalls zahlreich vertreten sind hits der platten “bochum”, “Ö” und “luxus”. die großartigen kompositionen grönemeyers kommen bei solchen live-auftritten endlich in angemessener art und weise zur geltung. vor allem die älteren stücke wie “bochum” oder “männer” klingen in ihren studio-versionen doch ziemlich saft- und kraftlos, diesen typischen 80er-sound mit viel elektronik und wenigen gitarren kann man sich heutzutage wirklich nicht mehr anhören, und so ist man froh, dass der deutschrock-poet im live-bereich ein hervorragender showman und sänger ist und stets von einer großartigen rock-band begleitet wurde und wird.

dieses album entstand, nachdem herbert als erster deutschsprachiger künstler für die legendäre mtv-serie unplugged eingeladen wurde. herbert grönemeyers *unplugged* ist mehr als nur ein muss für jeden fan, es ist pflicht. akustisch perfekt, musikalisch vielseitig und genial, präsentiert sich dieses album. für grönemeyer-fans und -kenner sind besonders die alten lieder ein genuss. doch auch die verschiedenen songs der platte *chaos* erklingen in ihrer neuinterpretation sogar klangvoller und besser als auf der im studio aufgenommenen cd. keine frage, eine große ehre für mtv, mit herbert diese platte herauszugeben!

Ö fällt vor allem auf durch die beißende kritik an politik und gesellschaft in den so selbstzufriedenen 80er jahren. den schwerpunkt des albums bilden aber die liebessongs. der bekannteste ist sicher *was soll das*, überstrahlt von grönemeyers lovesong schlechthin halt mich! war die vorgängerplatte sprünge in text und musik etwas kopflastig und unelegant, so verbindet Ö lockere rocknummern mit bissigen und pointierten texten.

mit songs wie >kinder an die macht< oder >tanzen< ist >spruenge< eines der unverzichtbaren groenemeyer alben. erschienen erstmals 1986, erreichte das album im selben jahr platinstatus und belegte platz 1 der charts. hiermit erscheint nun endlich wieder die vinylversion in der neuen remastered version, erstmals auf 180gr vinyl.

1984 aufgenommen und veröffentlicht, hielt sich herbert grönemeyers bochum album 79 wochen lang in den deutschen album-charts. während weltweit michael jacksons thriller das erfolgreichste album des jahres wurde, ging dieser titel 1984 in deutschland an 4630 bochum. mit über 2.5 millionen verkauften exemplaren nimmt es unter den meistverkauften alben in deutschland platz 3 ein. es wurde 5-mal mit platin ausgezeichnet.
