aufgrund starker nachfrage veröffentlicht expansion die beiden früh-1980er klassiker von michael wycoff nochmal auf einer gemeinsamen 7”: das oft gesamplete, von leon ware und zane grey (grey & hanks) komponierte und von webster lewis produzierte “looking up to you” (1982), sowie “tell me love” aus dem jahr 1983. beide songs erscheinen hier in ihren 4-minütigen 7” versionen.

recorded and originally released in 1999, “the bottle” has been released twice by expansion on 12” single and now finally gets it’s first 7” issue. the song is the most classic gil scott heron song, vocalist maysa still the finest contemporary soul singer with a unique voice and all here with the magic of a full incognito production. it is coupled with “hooked on your love”, both songs from the incognito produced album “all my life”

the second release coming from ex.society is a powerful 3 track with a profound soul essence and exciting grooves. also included in the ep a remix of the detroit legend gari romalis

originally released on planet e in 1998, * exstasoul* was recorded in paris and detroit and fuses electro-funk with deep house grooves and a touch of sampling. playing for the citys olivier portal adds keys on the title track. this 4-tracker is a definite testament to altons eclectic sound!

following the release of the ‘extraction’ and ‘hydraulic pressure’ 12”s earlier this year, adventice – the incendiary collaboration between dj deep and roman poncet, returns to tresor. while taking the groove up quite a few notches, and as per its two predecessors, ‘exsurgence’ unfolds in three different versions around a common theme.
the ‘main mix’ opens into hammering chords yet taking a delicate turn into an synth-heavy refrain. on the flip, the ‘reduced mix’ follows the same composition while playful and cinematic as the use of hihats add a skip to your step and pick up the pace. the ‘percussive mix’ and its rapid drum patterns, exude a fragrance of vocals triggering endless soundscapes.
with this new three track single, dj deep and roman poncet deliver a fierce package, another warning for what is still to come for the duo.
