from medellin to the uckermark and back again to question mark – here is another comeme travelogue for your badass baedeker. not long ago sano left his colombian hometown to find himself in an old palace in brandenburg, locked inside a dreamlike basement studio for two weeks with another seven from around the world. it has been there, as sano told us, that a blood pact was sealed. and now indeed it is his >chupa< (suck it!) to be the already second record (after alejandro paz - free) to emerge from that magnificent comeme conclave held at a cottage outside of berlin this summer.

delta is a symbolic and poetic place, the space, where the flow, the river enters the ocean or the sea. the delta gives the feeling of the rhythm. the delta is the supreme destination. delta refers to hanging out in the street in a city (in the district, for example). essential in the delta is the spirit of conscious spontaneity, collaborations with artists, instant moves, jam sessions, highs and the lows, the right thing, night, stories to tell and other basic habits from the primordial age of music. the delta provides one with a primal style for the music. it is the place where music begins. recorded in moscow, nikolina gora, russia and in berlin, germany and mixed by daniel maloso in barcelona.

chantals tracks are tinged with a hazy, nocturnal sadness, a touch of sexy, decadent disco glamour and a retro palette of sounds that reminds the listener of the synthesised soundtracks to john carpenters horror films. diegors & the dons (aka m. aguayo) tracks are testimonies to this fact. built simply but well, in the comeme style for maximum dancefloor power. the overall strangeness plus the syncopated melodies are distinctly latin and couldnt have come from any other label. cÓmeme is hot right now and this is definitely the best record they have done so far

rebolledo is an artist from xalapa, mexico, who is very much part of the comeme family of latin american artists. he s been around from the early days when he used to provide music for the buenos aires based bumbumbox street parties. so far he s had tracks on previous comeme releases, notably pitaya frenesi, but this is his first full release on his own. rebodello is the consummate comeme artist, with a quirky sense of humour, a unique latin american approach to dance music and a lean lo-fi approach to track making that is built to cut through on any sound system. lead track >guerrero< follows in comemes now established strange sense of humour, guerrero means warrrior and is a track about a >guerrero< who comes out at night and dresses in leather, it s all shouted vocals simple beats and 80s style synths. venganza y seduccion means vengeance and seduction and features suggestive panted echoing vocals over a cosmic disco bassline, while atmospheric chords build in the background, if this sounds strange it s because it is, but the combination works really well in a club.
the b side of the record is much harder and more techno-like - marchante is completely different, aggressive kick drums, a pulsing bassline and siren-like synths bring this track a panicked feel, which is offset by the way the drums build into tough patterns. raid features strange nonsense vocals over a pulsing rhythm track that reminds of old chicago acid, if it wasn t for the strange atmosphere. rebodello is a very welcome addition to the world of dance music.
