The new Hamburg and Munich based label Dérive Schallplatten comes up with a diversivied three-tracker of Benjamin Brunn, Achim Maerz and Christopher Rau from Hamburg.

A1 Benjamin Brunn _ Developers Live: The aficionado surely knows Benjamin Brunn’s releases on such lovely labels as Workshop, Bine Music and Out To Lunch or his collaboration with Move D. Now he opens the first record on Dérive Schallplatten with a live-jam of “Developers Developers”. This track is to be found on his album “Music Under Pin” which was released on Bine Music in 2005. Unlike the original which is more subtle and twisted “Developers Live” shows up in a more dancefloor-fitted manner. Starting with a minimalist beat that is truly bass-loaden Benjamin soon foreshadows the delayed subject that will bestride the whole tune. It wafts like a fast spreading fog and shifts slightly and more and more its intensity accelerates until the atmosphere is all on edge. This tune turns the floor into a maelstrom that disgorges the dancers not before it calms down again.

B1 Achim März _ Garish: Garish! The name is its motto. Newcomer Achim März pipes up arrestingly with a true raw smasher. When the flogging snare comes in and the rumbling bassline starts bouncing you definitively must hold your nerve. But Mr. März turns out to be a real master of suspense. Establishing by and by the main theme of his tune he bares his most determining musical influence: Detroit! At the highest stage of intensity he is spirited enough to let the rough and chord-loaden beat overturn into an elegiac expanse. Ostensible and profound strings appear, complement each other and grow until the beat starts anew. Achim realizes effectively to provide “Garish” with an extremely deep grounding even if one did not expect this at the beginning at all.

B2 Christopher Rau _ Ne Travaillez Jamais: Maybe some of you already know Christopher Rau’s “Gribuntal EP” which was released on Gedankensport Rec. in autumn 2008. With “Ne Travaillez Jamais” Christopher delivers us really a beautiful piece of deep house music. It lives up to his name and could easily be listened as the soundtrack of one slacker’s live. The track creates an extremly contemplative mood by introducing a repetitive and charming jazzy sample which is carried by a straight and pathbreaking bassdrum. In doing so the track appears dreamy and cheerful at the same time and will surely elicit some thruthful euphoria of the crowd.
