Originally released in 1995, Monsore marked a triumphant return for Afro-rock pioneers Osibisa—their first studio album in seven years since Movements in the late 1980s. Formed in London in 1969 by Ghanaian saxophonist Teddy Osei, Osibisa took the world by storm in the 1970s with their exhilarating fusion of African rhythms, rock, jazz, and funk, becoming one of the first African-heritage bands to achieve global mainstream success. Back in the ’90s, cassette and vinyl editions of Monsore were planned, but with CD reigning as the dominant format, the album never received the vinyl treatment it truly deserved. Fast forward to 2015: bandleader Teddy Osei reignited the vision, revisiting key albums in Osibisa’s catalogue that had never been properly issued on vinyl. As the vinyl revival gained momentum, the idea of finally pressing Monsore became a top priority. Now, thirty years after its original CD release, Monsore has been freshly remastered for vinyl by Danny Thomas at Wincraft Studios. This 30th Anniversary Edition celebrates Osibisa’s enduring legacy as Afro-rock trailblazers, and for the first time ever, fans can experience the full power of this classic reunion album on vinyl—presented by Charly Records in collaboration with Red Steel Music / Flying Elephant.[info sheet from distr.]
