Pressing 'Rockit Fuel' (originally released in 2007) on vinyl: the idea had been playing in Jerboa's head for quite a while. So when the opportunity crossed his path, he jumped on the chance. The album will be the first release on the new Jerboa Recordings imprint.
'Rockit Fuel' was an inspired meeting of minds, a creative gathering of souls. Musical roads crossed, and then everybody went on their own merry way. Collaborators included Trixie Whitley, Krewcial, Alex Callier (Hooverphonic), Johannes Verschaeve (The Van Jets), Bram Weijters (Mauro, Dez Mona), Bert Ostyn (Absynthe Minded), Jesse Roosen and Steven Gillis (Fifty Foot Combo), and many more.
Jerboa is Frederik Dejongh, now known first and foremost as Belgium's premier mastering engineer. Back in the day, though, he used to be a sampling wizard, master beat maker, producer, DJ and musician.
'Rockit Fuel' is a strikingly visual album, evoking night drives on deserted highways and walks down dark, dangerous alleyways. 'The auditory equivalent of film noir', as one reviewer called it back in the day. Pop, postrock, soul, hiphop: no corner is left unturned.
The album was remastered by Jerboa himself, employing all the knowledge and expertise he's built up over the past five years. The results are remarkable: grooves are more fluid, musical flourishes are clearer, voices take their rightful places.
