Each of these elements is made more vibrant, physical, and lifelike on these reissues, which bring into transparent view Knopfler’s sculpted guitar lines, expressive tones, and laid-back vocals — as well as the balanced accompaniment from his band mates. These are versions on which you can hear the blossom and decay of individual notes, and picture the size and shape of the studio.
