Cromie’s latest four tracker for Material Image, his first for the label, fires on all fronts with some help from a couple friends from across the pond (Iron Curtis and Royer). Cromie has a ‘habit’ of coaxing hooks out of unassuming sources, and fitting them into a cohesive groove. That’s the secret sauce here: pure groove and infectious melodies from who-knows-where. Listen for a perfectly placed, driving guitar riff in A1, pitched percussion and pan flutes in A2, and euphoric keys with chunky bass on B1 (with help from Iron Curtis).
