Dylan produced the record under the pseudonym of Jack Frost, which he used for his previous two studio albums, Love and Theft and Modern Times. Dylan revealed that the new record was heavily influenced by the sound of Chess Records and Sun Records. In an interview on his website BobDylan.com, the 67 year old singer compares the sounds of Together Through Life, to the 1950s sounds of blues singers Willie Dixon and Howlin Wolf. Dylan has a tough record to follow after his 2006 release Modern Times won two Grammys and became his first number one record in the U.S. since 1976.
