Birdsmakingmachine are back on track and continuing their series in style with BMM 007. Kicking off things on A1, at 124 BPM, “The Draft” is a joyful number that bursts with relentless energy while managing to fuse sharp metallic drum patterns with juggling ambient hooks. The more dancefloor-oriented track is nevertheless found on A2. As the title suggests, “Area 52” is quite literally a journey through the unknown and mysterious, a metaphor for the deep minimal house Amazon, a track that stands out with an extra subby bassline, swinging hihats and those ever-so-warm sequenced analog pads in the background. Flip the record over and you find yourself with two slightly more industrial affairs, “The Voice of Kudha” on B1 offering a breakier alternative than it’s predecessors and “Zagonity”, on B2, galloping its way to close off the record with shuffling vocal hits and an amalgamation of bouncing hats and snares.
