Available for the first time, the Texan psych legends’ 'lost' live album from 1967 in mono mix - pressed on transparent blue with black smoke vinyl
Initially envisioned as the band’s second LP, slated for release in spring 1967 but never officially issued, this album now makes its long-awaited debut in a meticulously restored first-ever mono mix, true to its intended form. Recorded on February 18, 1967, at the ultra-modern Houston Music Theatre, this show was captured shortly after the band's groundbreaking California tour. Fittingly, it also marks the final appearance of the band’s classic lineup, featuring Ronnie Leatherman and John Ike Walton as the rhythm section. The 13th Floor Elevators, led by Roky Erickson’s blistering vocals and Tommy Hall’s otherworldly electric jug, were at their prime, and this performance cemented their status as iconic figures of the psychedelic sound. Highlights of Live Houston Music Theatre ‘67 include fiery renditions of the band’s signature tracks such as ‘You're Gonna Miss Me’ and ‘Reverberation’, showcasing the wild intensity of their unique sound. This album has been mixed, edited, and mastered to authentically recreate the mono live experience as intended for its spring 1967 release[info sheet from distr.]
