after kicking things off with sean thomas’ (cop envy) the weigh, sydney’s outer time inner space return with a collaborative ep from jon watts, the kind-hearted, go-to sound engineer of the sydney club and experimental music scene and otis label owner, hugh burridge (aka hubert clarke jr). as resident djs for otis’ sweet echoes parties and guests for some of sydney’s more open-minded club promoters, jon & hugh have developed their own style of warm up set, largely unrestrained by genre. another view is just an extension of this open approach to club music. there’s an obvious ode to bukem’s good looking records, a lopsided mpc jam that could have been written by a drunk ron trent, a club roller with uk broken beat at it’s heart and a spaced out, dream-scape dub from melbourne mate, rings around saturn (dan white) to round out the ep. the common thread, they’re keeping it deep.

sydney’s outer time inner space move from record store to record label in 2017 and they’re keeping it local with the first release. in 2016, thomas mcalister aka cop envy, turned in a stunning ep for uk label opal tapes. a percussive excursion through 3am mind melters, thom proved his ability to craft seemingly effortless, yet undeniably entrancing club tools. under new alias sean thomas, thom extends his reach into deeper, harmonic textures. heady melodic inflections float atop peak-time, rolling rhythmic beds in what feels like an ode to the late 90s, limited-capacity club excursions of western australias red ember records, patrice scotts sistrum recordings or the uks phono label early support from: plo man, ben fester, simon caldwell, adi toohey and a load of other selectors that are keeping it deep in twenty seventeen

hamburg based rdk island launches with an ep of forward thinking house jams from lo-will, backed up by two essential remixes from orson wells.

2016 repress.. these reworks by the revenge (soul heaven, jisco music) & greymatter (mr bongo, unique uncut) present two unique interpretations of the original, the revenge strips the track down into one of his trademark slamming mid tempo grooves, whilst greymatter keeps it closer to the original but adds a new level of drama for the dance floor. side b introduces a new talent to the scene – krl. playing on samples and influences from the soul scene and restructuring and resurrecting them as modern dance floor bangers, krls tracks are already creating a big buzz. the massive recession beat has been in constant demand since its first initial promo airings and the storming remember (greymatter rework) is also set to do big things.
