maeve label honcho the drifter and co-emperor of the permanent vacation kingdom, benjamin fröhlich, team up for some rascal business. always quick to pull the sling shot out of the back pocket and hit you right between the eyes, the original version of -waterville- is full of hazy melodies, washed out bells and quirky arpeggios backed up with concrete drums for some extended dancefloor meditation. while the high tide mix wraps things up a bit with some more prominent drums and a little extra spice on the bassline. mysterious uk producer a sagittariun sculptures out of the original a breakbeat house track, that sounds like a hidden treasure from this short but influential period.
maeve is the record label run by three close friends, mano le tough, the drifter and baikal. maeve 04 is the drifter s debut on the label, and his first original music since late 2012 for permanent vacation. again showcases a tougher side to his productions. the again ep consists of 2 tracks, both aimed firmly at the dancefloor. again is a rolling 10 minute trip, with some twists and turns along the way. blocks with its tougher, ahem, blockier beats and soaring synths is a more upfront affair.
record kicks proudly presents 2 incredibly hard to find and super hot deep funk & x-over soul pearls out of macon, georgia on a super limited edition 45. recorded at phil and alan waldens capricorn studios and produced by tad bush, *freedom* and *think it over* by early clover & the georgia soul drifters were originally released in 1977 on a super scarce 45 by legendary northern soul label dove records. the original 45 is simply impossible to find and currently is a super in-demand spin on both rare soul and funk dancefloors. born in 1953 in dublin georgia, early clover formed his band at the age of 16 and later went on to become the opening act for some of the hottest names in the south of usa, such as betty wright, the temptations, the marvellettes and tyrone davis. in the 70s became the road band and back up for william bell, rufus thomas, and joe simon to name a few and collaborated with james brown in writing techniques of songs. currently relocated in las vegas, early clover is still very active. this is a strictly limited to 600 copies 45 so dont sleep on it... essential spin!
this 20 track-album pulls together undocumented jamaican singles (& one dub plate) from 1968 to 1973! alternate mixes were to become one of perrys production trade marks at his fabled black ark studio and of course are now an everyday part of music marketing. the usual high quality packaging and graphics are all secondary to a great set of productions from the upsetter that are as good as anything that pressure sounds previously released from mr perry.
for the new musik krause ian simmonds has put a considerable fire under the adrenalin of sensuality so that the cinematic played before the minds eye brings both friends and free-spirited dancers to the same place. that which marked the typical simmonds sound up to now gets from ian a considerable punch from way way down. the club equipment and party-ers will be thrilled - and thats a promise!
2 swirl faves re-rubed by two of todays most prolific house producers, torontos jason hodges (dj sneak collaborator) & chicagos mazi! they both deliver some a feisty deep chicago house mix, that should go down well on most of todays house floors
us garage doesnt get more bumping than this of course its plastik people flying the flag for the evergreen sound where swing is king and a diva vocal is more than welcome. soledrifter wastes no time in diving into the funky house mindset on this various artists 12inch, keeping things heady and tracky where it counts before snazzy trax brings in a cheeky twist on a bona fide garage classic, now called the experience. joe olindo shines bright with the sexy, sharply pointed how i knew, and then lombard street takes things smoother on closing track whats wrong.
dmitry meshcheryakov hails from moscow but lives in canada, where he s been busy pumping out classically informed garage house for over five years. now plastik people s new sublabel rhythm people carries his first vinyl release, and hes stepped up with some surefire party starters. body werk is a bad ass swinger with a crafty bassline and all the right stabs and samples, while hands together gets into a more rolling peak time house flow. mike millrain drops a heavy remix of body werk that keeps the original ingredients intact and simply builds on them with subtle flourishes. smokey bubblin b gets busy with hands together, crafting a classic shuffling masterclass from the component parts.

emmanuel’s “rave culture” is a record that pushes the boundaries of techno to another level. “rave culture” is his first full-length on the label bringing 2x12” round of wax. ten cuts that are committed to fill a space in the rave scene that no one else has done in terms of power, experimentation, work of soul and most of all showing respect for the old-school way of doing things. this lp is his largest achievement yet and aims to showcase who he is.
emmanuel directs the listener to unknown territory keeping them very concentrated on a rave scenario, but also giving them different reasons to think, act & explode - all with the right balance. deadly floor massacre weapons and well crafted heavy bass works elevate to a modern way of thinking as well as challenging the dancer to think forward and get inspired.
