good old aunt frieda likes it colorful, that’s pretty known in all parts of the world since the birth of frieda musik. and even our new children of the family are the same kind of colorful: frivolous is painting in all different colors without wasting any paint. his two originals are pushing with forward-thinking rhythms without forgetting how to get his audience into dreaming through his golden voice and his playful melodies. a very special schmankerl is his lullaby. a little more precise and determined comes dirty doering and sascha cawa’s upside down remix of “for the message” within this package. and not to forget there’s a digital bonus by our boys san marco & don ramon, who tell us: don’t stop mumble, if you wanna get this kind of (zurich)-groove. in our opinion: a perfect ep for endless summer nights.

smith & mudd are back in fine style on claremont 56, following up their excellent lp with this great double header! >sauna love< is the lead track, an uptempo, string laden boogie house affair with great vibes, bass, strings and punchy percussion all rolling along into the sunshine. on side-b >the surveyor< is a great piece of otherworldly electronic music, coming on like some weird cough medicine induced dream. the bass pulses along with mystery dialogue, light key flourishes and an intent that is delivered about 5 minutes in when the kick drops and the whole thing shifts into a latenight, alt disco bomb.

elektro willi and his son are back. two years on board of a club cruise ship - thats enough. dad, we go ashore! sure, it was only a small step from selling washing-machines via the more or less obscure music industry to club ship animation. but sometimes even the most spectacular evening dinners, the most exciting special guests become boring. you just want to pull of your sweaty vinyl-showsauna-suit and get back to your origins: e.g. selling washing-machines. but without melancholy: on the aida, the willi-show became improved, in mediterranean nights, a new album was drafted into the starry sky.

ectopia are adam christensen, jack brennan and viki steiri. previous works have included sound-tracking jack smith’s experimental film normal love (1963) and carl theodor dreyer’s the passion of joan of arc (1928). they recently played a sell-out show at london’s ica in a wysing polyphonic showcase that also featured xname, siren and n-prolenta who made their uk live debut.
wysing polyphonic has emerged from the wysing polyphonic music festival, now in its 8th year, which has programmed the likes of beatric dillon, elaine mitchener, hannah sawtell, helena hauff, holly herndon, james holden, karen gwyer, klara lewis, nik colk void and russell haswell, amongst many others, play at the cambridgeshire centre.
