i walk around in the solar field. from here, the surrounding beams look like cylinderthick, motionless rain or comet tails painted onto the sky. the tower is all white because the sunrays are pointing directly at it, white in an erased way, like if you leave an empty patch on a drawing, and surrounded by a halo. i go over to one of the sun mirrors. it’s huge and darkish and cold when i touch it. i don’t know if it’s cold and immune to the sun or transfixed in a much more extreme way than the desert. a solar plant can take much more sunlight. it has direct access, like a clip through into the thing outside. the widest zone, like the highest point when it’s lightning. the sunlight is magnetic. intense heat from the mantle pushing against the crust to get closer to the sun.
repress 2015 - the oscillat music label kicks off the marabouda ep, featuring a killer set of deep house grooves from sam. from the opening title tracks, with its breathy chords and jazzy keys, which reference classic chicago house with a uniquely modern flavour, through the joey anderson-like weirdness of -storm refuge- and pumping rhythms of -decoy-, the producer demonstrates his killer ear for classic deep house textures. a must-check release from a label to keep tabs on.
one copy per customer! its time for the second release of s.a.m.s own imprint delaphine. after releasing on prominent labels such as fathers & sons, subwax bcn and pluie/noir he is turning to his own label with his deep vibes and grooves. the emphasis on this release is to transmit an honest reflection of the melancholia of the northern hemispheres using field recordings and other soundscape aesthetics together with classic drum machines and dub sounds. the b-side features a remix from none other than s.i.m., the brother of s.a.m.

elephant moon continues its steady schedule of releases with a brand new ep from label owner john dimas and danish talent samuel andre madsen (aka s.a.m). on this fresh new release we re treated to two tracks from monsieur dimas and two from s.a.m. to open we have a quirky little space jam called moon patrol by john dimas. it has chunky percussion at its foundation with off-key chimes and cosmic pads giving it an interstellar feel. samuel s reshaped for moonwalk mix puts john s mix on a diet, making it far lighter and focusing on the ethereal elements turning it into a sweet galactic ditty. on the flip we get a sombre bossa nova ride from s.a.m., all jazzy with a grooving bassline and galloping beats. its a cool, laid back riddim from the dane and were sure youll love it. john dimas gives the track his own monday mix, bringing the tempo down even more and crafting a delicate heady rework.
following the debut ep from label owners julien sandre and konstress, blind box comes back with the second release, signed by utrecht-based hot young producer julian alexander. established member of the infamous slapfunk crew, this bad boy caught the attention of the biz with his powerful old school flavoured minimalism, by the likes of people like brawther and tristan da cunha who packed a whole ep for their dungeon meat. when julian meets blind box, his deepest side shows up. two stunning bass heavy journey and a full analogue locked groove on b3 to define the entrancing vibes you ll find out of the box. on the a2 track we got remix courtesy of one of the finest producers of the underground scene, samuel andre madsen aka s. a. m. (oscillat, delaphine, fathers & sons productions, concrete). the spiritual side of the amazing mandar project reshapes lizhi with a concentrated beam of deepness, surfing through some serious 909 beats. blind box team also got a treatment for all the way , adding to the b side the deep and groovy sound that marked them out so far. once again, a release you re definitely not gonna miss.
brilliant and conceptual reinterpretation of coldfish debut album on all inn records. the orphans remixes contains 8 different approaches of 8 geniously artists from the modern electronic music scene. just as the original release this album is also beautifully composed and it shows a large scale of shades from experimental electronics by the ambient-electronica heroes lenta and eril fjord, through the well-known techno statues of all inn records: verrina & ventura, kamran sadeghi, roger gerressen and andy kolwes until guest remixers like s.a.m. and peter dildo (rozzo, mountain people). first class material, all in one! must have!
sometimes you have to look backwards to move forwards. in the case of maceo plexs dj kicks mix, its case of looking back with a different perspective. while maceo plexs mix is composed mainly of records that are up to 20 years old, its the tone of those records that is important. eric estornel, to use plexs real name, has certainly come up with a forward-thing set that doesnt sound like much else out there.
