a word from label boss chris farrell: this is the new one on idle hands, from us producer strategy. i first came across paul dickows work when he released a 12 inch called *world house* on his own community library label back in 2005. it blew me away. in the ensuing years my friend duncan george who promoted bristol’s best electronic music night - under_score tried on numerous ocasions to book him for a bristol date but it never quite hapened due to the usual things that go wrong in club land. in those years duncan kept in touch with paul and last year suggested to him that it might be worth sending some tracks to me, which he did at the start of 2013… add a peverelist remix and you have the tracks here before you, dub reggae informed house and psychedelic 2 step vibes.

after the success of apple pips 1st release from martyn, we are back with another treat for music heads.. our 2nd release comes from brendon moeller aka beat pharmacy brendon. on the a-side under his real name, brendon has created an 127bpm big room classic, submerging the original elements under layers of delay and echo, deep but grooving…on the flip he dons his beat pharmacy guise, slows things down to 120bpm & spaces things out in fine style, utilising the originals abstract riff and resetting it in a really exciting new house tempo context.. with releases coming on rekids, third ear, & deep space and remixes for echospace and others coming up it looks like a great year for brendon and pips is proud to present this exciting clash of styles…

theres a common thread that runs through all of brandt brauer fricks music. it is this: interesting things happen at the interface of machine and hand-made music. the berlin trios 2010 album, you make me real, fused techno and classical. the 2011 follow-up, mr machine, saw them go the whole classical-meets-club hog with a ten-piece ensemble playing dance music live. then, earlier this year, came miami, a darker, more song-based collection exploring the same man-machine ideas.

paul rose, aka scuba, the mastermind behind the incredibly well curated hotflush label, has been enlisted to create his own dj-kicks mix. featuring a healthy helping of exclusives from his camp including new music from addison groove & boddika, the mix treads the line between the uk bass music scene in which scuba came up, and the techno sounds dominant in his current home of berlin, creating a new sound in the process.
