favorite recordings proudly presents combattant, first ep by pat kalla produced by bruno patchworks hovart. pat kalla is a musician, singer and storyteller. patrice of his birth name, in tribute to the great lumumba! lover of words, french language, and music of course. born in lyon, from a cameroonian father, musician and political activist, and a french and literary mother, he explores from his childhood the soul, the slam, the funk and the art of telling stories, life being a great one. after years of touring alongside many bands (conte & soul, legend of eboa king, mento cloub, voilaaa sound system), and several acclaimed titles on the two albums by voilaaa, he comes back with this project to put a bit of primordial lightness in a rainy world: a tribute to the african culture in honor of a father with sawa origins, the tribe from the people of makossa. jojo ngallé, moni bilé, pain, manu dibango, franco, rochereau, kabasele, fela, françois nkotti & the black style, all these legends vinyls have turned on the family turntable and the collection has whetted the child s appetite. through this new trip, he revisits styles that are sometimes little known to western audiences, such as high-life, makossa, angolan music, afrobeat, afro-disco and others. we could talk about franc cfa, we could talk about jacques foccart, but we will rather dance, because -the dancer seems naive, but his feet must be connected with earth to understand history backed by the super mojo disco, a hyperactive band from lyon with deep groove and positive energy, pat kalla offers us an anti-crisis project, where swaying and feel-good humor is mandatory! an album soon in the crates, beware cest medicament

new year - new artist keeping it freaky and strictly sponky! irelands kalla makes his dabj debut with four killers that we have been sitting on for a criminally long time (sorry mate!). we are extremely happy to finally get these out on wax so everyone else can enjoy popping their woofers and tweeters as much as we have over the past 6 months! limited to 300 copies, hand stamped labels with love from glasgow. props to lindsay todd from firecracker for the sweet stamp designs!

repress - pursuing their explorations in the vast corridors of international funk and disco music, favorite recordings and bruno patchworks hovart present us voilaaa. with this first single composed of 2 tracks that clearly reveal the afro-disco inspiration of this new experience, favorite also expands its new series of disco 12inch singles recently launched with several fine reissues, but this time with one of its special homemade production recipe. under the imprint of the label and after their long years of collaboration in the achievement of projects such as the dynamics, mr president, mr day, patchworks galactic project, or taggy matcher, the insatiable french producer therefore returns to his first love and specialty, disco music, staring this time at the african and caribbean influences. indeed, as everywhere in the 70s and 80s, funk and disco movements were extremely influential in these regions, and in most cases, the combination of the festive, yet sometime futile nature of disco, and the instinctive, deep, sometimes rough nature of african music, sounds like a perfect balance. aiming to find back this energy and specific sound, patchworks quickly began producing a few tracks, using his unique and ruling beats and bass lines as foundations, this time he dresses all with guitars, keyboards and brass distorted with vintage and diy effects pedals and boxes. with a very dynamic music scene around him in lyon, where there is no shortage of artists with african origins, he decided to surround himself with singers from the region, even if it means to accompany them on unusual musical paths. a more than successful bet with a result surprising of authenticity, as it’s unveiled by these first two titles alongside sir jean and pat kalla, both from a musical background as rich than different. with an album planned for the end of the year, that promises to be as explosive and magnetic, patchworks and favorite recordings make a strike again and confirm them a little more if needed, as the true warrant of the modern dancefloors loyalty, to the spirit of their mythical ancestors

voilaaa is one of the many projects led and produced by bruno patchworks hovart. . this time exploring the wide spectrum of the african and tropical disco scene, he received a massive international support for voilaaa s first album, on te l avait dit, released late 2015 on favorite recordings. following the success of on te l avait dit, and pursuing the same direction combining the festive, yet sometime futile nature of disco, and the instinctive, deep, sometimes rough nature of african music, voilaaa s now presenting its 2nd effort, des promesses.

voilaaa is one of the many projects led and produced by bruno “patchworks” hovart, who’s proven over the past 15 years, his place amongst the finest producers of groove music in all genres.
this time exploring the wide spectrum of the african and tropical disco scene, he received a massive international support for voilaaa’s first album, on te l’avait dit, released late 2015 on favorite recordings. with a second effort already planned for spring 2017, voilaaa has not finished to feed international dancefloors with heavy afro-disco vibes.
