are you ready for fresh blood?! some time ago, tomorrow is now kid! head honcho alex salvador and jelle meeuwsen aka pokopoko met while spinning records and talking music at a party in tilburg, the netherlands. a big stack of demos got sent over to the tink! headquarters and eventually a debut ep named petrichor was created. a powerful four-tracker with a dusty and melancholic take on today s house music. it s raw and funky but changes vibes throughout, keeping it fresh. that said, petrichor ep is an emotional rollercoaster and a tribute to the ever-changing and unpredictable dutch weather.
the third time is definitely a charm. dokutoku three is here headed up by doubtingthomas delivering a two track ep with seriously smooth jazz inspired atmospheres. the release is topped off by a raw grooving remix of ‘tandem’ by fellow frenchman alexkid.
when words fail, music has the ability to depict the deepest of human emotions and once again kidnap kid uses his signature emotive and sophisticated production to do just that. he returns to birds that fly, the label he founded less than a year ago with brokenhearted an ep containing two original tracks. brokenhearted is a reaction to the immense sadness in the world. my way of processing endless tragedy and distant despair. mist, on the other hand, is a more hopeful response, a faraway light at the end of the tunnel - kidnap kid. musicians have been making music about love and heartbreak for hundreds of years and kidnap kid’s statement on the eternally relevant topic starts with brokenhearted ,a track that taps into the memory vaults. next up is mist whose simple melody is layered over intricate sounds to create an immensely absorbing track. the start of 2016 saw kidnap kid launch his birds that fly imprint as a platform for his own music as well as a means to support like minded producers, such as applebottom and amtrac, both releasing on the label with great success. the labels debut release was from kidnap kid himself and moments was met with such high acclaim it collectively reached 10 million streams, 1.3 million of those coming from spotify and subsequently made the spotify chart in over 10 countries. it was championed by several radio 1 djs and was the closing record for many, including maceo plex who closed his set at crssd festival with the track.
our second suspect packages 7” release, featuring two tracks lifted off the digital only par excellence released rap biscuits ep, from producer kidkanevil.
side a features ocean wisdom with the original vocal cut of the massive genre defying rocket launcher ewok, whilst side b finds foreign beggars front man orifice vulgatron & sean play riding the vip mix of level up, another cross pollination of hip hop, drum & bass, reggae & dubstep. full bass levels needed, both tracks kick up a rumpus! not for the faint hearted.
the 7” comes on transparent orange vinyl in a clear pvc sleeve with flap. a limited pressing of 220.
uk techno founders b12 return! the duos history famously started in the early 90s with their music appearing under a plethora of monikers under the b12 records umbrella - 12 inch vinyl with notorious cryptic messages engraved in the run-out grooves, before being collected into album form and release on warp. after a hiatus in the late 90s, the pair resurfaced briefly for some live shows, a flurry of hugely sought-after 12 inches and a 7-part cd anthology. they then abruptly disappeared again - this is their first appearance in 5 years, fittingly on glaswegian imprint soma. (their seminal warp records album was named electro soma...is there a connection?)
kid creme, one of the most enigmatic figures in electronic music is back with a new track look for me a collaboration with nz producer jolyon petch. this is an official vinyl release on his own illegal beats label.
tomorrow is now, kid! returns just in time for summer with a collection of tracks taken from a reel of tape. in my ghetto is the debut ep of anthony brooklyn, who has crafted four jams in spirit of the roughness of new york citys famous borough, brooklyn.
played by: slothboogie, ka§par, nathaniel jay, dj nav, david, fabio monesi (wilson records), alex alterskye, daniel curpen, leigh d oliver, djs: most charted - deep house, waze & odyssey, alex salvador, new jack city, kid mark, l atelier, borg ltd, marsupials
1nce again is back, this time with the first single in a double package! this is the first of two 12 inches containing one of our absolute favourite tracks from prolific producer ken duke aka dj duke. closer was orginally released back in 1994 on dukes power music records and the amazing klubb kidz mixes quickly found its way into many djs record bags, including label boss mad mats who rates the flava dub as one of his favourite deep house cuts of all time. if u ever heard mats spinning a house set chances are big you have heard this mix blasted loud! first up for remixes duties this time is mark seven, parkway/parkwest label owner, a true djs dj, a passionate music lover and record collector extrodinare. the so close mix of closer is deep house at its finest, an homage to the classic prescription sound keeping it ultimately atmospheric. the stalker mix continues on the same vibe yet develops into something more meaty and pumping during its course. together with the original klubb kidz flava dub and the mark seven mixes this release got everything a true deep house head needs.
third release on big box recordings! upcoming producer and multi intrumentist aliwud, delivers a masterpiece ep! discover his midas touch, strongly influenced by major artist like george duke, herbie hancock, stanley clarke his sound mixed up 70s funk & neo soul. he shares his legacy with miri & emund swinburn from london to give birth to this wonderful ep >here i am<. the weshokids turns >give you everything< into a dubstep anthem! and la tourette delivers a great house remix with his rework of >don’t stop now< aliwud is here ! dont miss !
supported by luciano, timo maas, pig & dan, anthony collins, woody, dustin zahn. rifraf is rafael gimelstein, recently relocated from sydney to berlin, born in lithuania, raised in israel, flowered in sydney. classically trained violinist, deep as fu*k party organiser and creator of sydneys earthdance festival, rifraf is now full time producer making his distinctive sound in electronic music world. philosophy started as a casual recording of his granny klara telling stories about her time in a concentration camp in germany, and singing the yiddish song tumbalalaika and ended as a very intelligent moving sound collage. the whole peace is a trip, which feeds you constantly with changing noises and visions. although philosophy is transferring a lot of aural information, it is never telling to much and still works perfectly on the dance floor. its just an intoxicating musical tale which drives you on a wild journey. with the both remixes, one of alexkid with his deep as fu*k remix and phillip baders off runner the release get its pretentious dance floor alternatives. fifteen seconds close this fine ep, which rafael did in coop with the young israeli producer omer from tel aviv.
nice price deal !!! morgan zarate is best known for pushing r&b and hip hop into new spaces, taking influences from the us and uk and creating raw, emotional and psychedelic beats. on this first ep for hyperdub, his production steps up in tempo, and the influence on his music of grime and dubstep shines through.
tes la roks first release in 2010 sees him returning to his own noppa imprint with two massive remixes. wikidness remix has already gained anthem status. the dubplate has been championed by a selected few djs for the last 12 months. the tune combines roots-reggae with dubstep and adds an ounce of jungle vibes for extra flavour. tes la rok delivers a true natty dredbass remix. on the flipside you will find his remix of one of the legends in the game. top cats >drunken master< is certainly going to be one of the summer anthems of 2010. rolling beats and sub-heavy bass combined with top cat lyrics is a sure shot combination to fire up the dances. one of the most anticipated 12 inch releases from the northern warrior tes la rok.
the third limited release on off-key industries is once again a return to the darkside of the rave at a time when many commentators bemoan the general lack of ideas heard on contemporary techno dancefloors, and talk of the death of minimal. this release features the subliminal kid, an up and coming swedish producer who has previously recorded tracks for delsin sub label ann aimee. on the original version, the subliminal kid lives up to his nomenclature, crafting a series of subtly dark grooves - under which rages a barely contained elemental storm threatening to engulf the track itself and any who stand in its way. like the very best techno, it articulates emotions that haven t been named yet, and more besides. on the flip, label head honcho matt o brien s house re-interpretation twists time and space by melding a lulling groove with devastating offbeat rave stabs that spit and judder to a screaming crescendo. managing to be deep, dubbed out and savage simultaneously, listening to this track is like bearing witness to a poltergeist breaching our dimension. strictly limited to 500 copies only, no re-press!
rekids present >ghouls< by the multi-talented music for freaks luke solomon. a massive stomper of a record with heavy drums aplenty - this is the peak time jackin house that luke does to perfection. this killer 12inch also features a hot remix from man of the moment >claude von stroke<. he takes things strictly minimal but bouncy then beefs things up near the end of his mix as the bassline turns much more snarling. perfect for the dance floor!
when we launched our digital imprint in 2013, one of our explicit reasons for doing so was to fund a vinyl label. it may have taken us four years to get to this point, but we’re finally here - fkofv001 is upon us. the debut fatkidonfire physical release sees new artists join our roster. taiko’s untitled grime has been blowing up the dances for a hot minute, championed by the likes of truth, spooky and many more. spooky even named the tune in his fact mag top ten most prized dubplates list! we linked taiko up with mancunian wordsmith skittles (currently smashing it with the levelz crew), and “don’t be stoopid” is the anthemic result. fkof fam and producer extraordinaire district adds an industrial grime-esque flavour to his remix for a killer one-two punch. the two producers collaborate, for the first time ever, on the b-side, entitled “yokai”. it’s a tune that demonstrates why we signed both musicians incredible atmospheres, depth and weight. beau at ten eight seven, as ever, has mastered the tunes to perfection. we’re proud of this release and, on first listen, we hope you’ll hear why...
matt edwards drops his eagerly anticipated debut radio slave album feel the same via his rekids imprint in september. easily his most recognisable nom de plume, radio slave was initially matt s pseudonym for remixes, with early reinterpretations of kylie minogue and new order leading into frequent work for both major and independent labels. he s now indisputably one of house and techno s most in-demand remixers, whilst original radio slave productions have gone on to appear via reputable imprints like running back, r&s, ostgut ton, nonplus and work them records.
having sprung into action with the sol explorer ep on girasole, william caycedo is back with a new selection of jams on the ever-developing slapfunk. as the label s remit for minimal house and techno broadens, we re treated to low slung leftfield beats on -booty call- before the peppier broken beat groove of -ain t no joke-. -creepin - and -g groove- head into more familiar territory for slapfunk fans, but there s still space for the crisp, laid back funk of -tales from the west- and the off-kilter jazzy vibes of -yes we do- thrown in for good measure.
marta ren is not a newcomer as she has been around in the portuguese scene since the mid 90s lending her deep and powerful voice, amongst others, to break-beat outfit the bombazines, recording two albums and establishing her unique talent at clubs and festivals all around portugal. but marta s passion has always been for the deepest funk and rawest soul of the sixties, and now the time has come for her to show the world her immense talent. with a powerful voice that would make the founding soul sisters proud, marta ren is looking to rule the world and make herself a household name. fans of sharon jones & the dap-kings get on it!
more heat from nervous. another seminal ep from one of the greatest house production duo s of all time - mood ii swing aka john ciafone & lem springsteen. this was only their second ep from 1992 and showcases their trademark drum programming and deep 90 s chords. contains 4 mixes including the sought after mood ii swing dub. remastered for 2015 in conjunction with nervous records, nyc.
now heres something special. a straight up, bona fide summer smash. a massive dancefloor-smashing beast of a tune. daniel dexter continues his long and fruitful relationship with poker flat by channelling the sound of classic clivillés & cole in deeper love, an early 90s house bomb that will send shivers down your spine.
