nigh/tmare’s most recent ep, entitled “hypnagogia” on thrènes records, is the perfect example of the artist’s uncompromising attitude. the integral work on this project is the perfect sublimation of experimental overtones, rugged beats, and techno punch, making for a candid, outstanding, and diverse approach with a lot of edge.

digging deep into the chicago rave vaults to re-issue the debut ep from billy nightmare aka “mystic bill” torres. ‘reality check’ consists of 4 tracks, recorded at mirage studios in chicago in 1996. two tracks on the a-side are dark thumpers and will haunt your head for days. side b has 2 versions of the same song, lighter and funkier in mood both show the diversity mystic bill is capable of producing. all songs have been remastered by george horn at fantasy studios. each ep is housed in a custom designed jacket by eloise leigh featuring a 90s photo of billy nightmare staring into tv static and includes a postcard with notes.

it does not happen that often any more that unreleased music from 40 years ago surfaces. even more unlikely it is that the songs put on tape are such treasures. the voltags were right at the forefront of the local washington dc new wave/punk scene of the late 1970s. influenced by kraftwerk, gary numan, the clash, and the b-52 s, they have released only one 45rpm single during their existence. but during the time span of not even 18 months, they had recorded enough material for an entire album but the songs remained in the can. this is the story of the voltags, a short-lived band which could have become famous and mentioned in the same breath as the aforementioned music legends of that era if their songs had been released back in the day. dive in and enjoy the sound of the voltags, it is truly special. we here at perfect toy are thrilled to be label to finally release their work and we sincerely hope that they are finally getting the appreciation they so richly deserve

brasilian producer lypovsky debuts with his double tracker on resopal very proper. his nightmare in kongostr. vinyl features two remarkable tracks that capture his many versatile talents from driving house tools to reduced on the point techno. both tracks are full with brooding vibrant pads and spikey synths linger over spacious drum patterns, while live drum fills, and claps bouncing off the bass pulses as wandering keys usher in. played by villalobos.

defendergrooverecords (dgr) presents the >electric nightmare< ep 2014. the second dgr release based on classic electro back in 1984/85 and inimitable electrodefender style. original vocoder machines and analog synthesizers back from the 80ies and not any softsynths are the soundsources for this unique eight track ep. limited to 100 copies.
