since launching their ksmisk project in 2015 the pair have returned to some of these labels whilst also dropping two releases on renowned bergen-based techno label ploink, of which 2017 s magma ep is the precursor to their inaugural album mikrometeorittene . opening the package is the ominous and beatless lonsdaleite , setting the tone for an otherworldly aesthetic throughout. off-kilter kicks then rain down in silicate as sinister drones ebb in and out of the mix before meandering back into a ghostly ambient cut named vesta . crunchy percussion and tantalising atmospherics then make up blitz , moving into the twisted and syncopated marinate until the raw sounding spherules exhibits a compelling groove combined with echoing effects. the dusky wustite sees the album retreat from 4/4 once again, returning for the effervescent westergas before concluding on a melancholic outro entitled chondrites .

for two decades now, ploink has promoted techno nights around norway, presenting local talent as well as some of the biggest acts from around the world. last year we finally set up our label branch and with this we now count 9 releases. ksmisk is norwegian pioneers trulz & robin’s otherworldly alias. between them they have released music for over 15years on labels such as bpitch, eskimo, jackoff, electronic be, dialect, suicide, cymasonic, full pupp and rett & fletta. we are proud to present their first release for ploink. we asked them to describe the two tracks - this is what they sent us: strikkemor - grandmother is out of bed with here knitting kit. sneering and swinging here stick around. she is angry!!!!!!! ginnungagap - before time, there was nothing. an endless void of darkness. until.

nice price deal !!! marking the first output of cymasonic s offshot vinyl-only label and collabaration with subwax distribution, the balder ep is a two-hundred copy, hand stamped entry into the world of cymawax. there s no better way to start than with four quality tracks of hot and crunchy norwegian techno with soul by trulz & robin, under their new moniker for otherworldly machine sounds: ksmisk. the duo from oslo have been a force in norway s electronic music scene for over two decades, but their current project is set to bend and exceed all expectations. the title track makes full use of spacial effects to create the kind of landscape deserving of the cavernous exchange of industrial rooms or the breathing walls of smaller sweatboxes. its energetic arpeggiation carries the driving, raw bass line home. less linear and more neurotic, -jonson- squelches its way into existence. next, -water- is as fluid as the name suggests, using deep, delayed dub chords to sustain listeners during its eight minute life. finally, the release ends on -tehjerk- which is full of electricity, heavily charged with distortion and powerful drums before opening up into a euphoric waterfall of melodies. it s fitting that this chronicle should end up pressed onto wax, a monument to the physical launch of cymawax and trulz & robin presenting ksmisk.

following on from deft earlier this year and the inaugural release for this label from placeholder in 2012, space hardware returns with a new ep from blacksmif. born yemi olagbaiye, he is a producer who has received hearty props from mary ann hobbs, fact mag and radio 1 for his strange and wonderful sounds on labels like blah blah blah, paradise club and tom middletons sounds of the cosmos. dutchman and klakson co-boss dexter also turns in a remix to complete this package.

paradise club recordings are due to serve up another eclectic ep later this month – their first selection of what they have in store for 2013 – and it’s one that furthers the label’s trend of showcasing the many different styles at their disposal from their current roster.label stalwart jabru kicks things off with ‘last days of rome’, an aptly-titled cut that begins by traipsing through ambient swells and looms, only to then brew up a truly decadent, central dancehall rhythm.
