something tells me this ones gonna be big. uzuri 020 comes from jitterbug, and its great to have him back. followers of the label will be very familiar with this producers work, even if they know very little about the man himself. im not going to shatter the mystique.

for uzuri 018 we return to one of our home grown artists – jitterbug. time has flown since his last release for us in 2010, but we have been quite eager to get some new material out from him for a while – and, based on feedback we have had, plenty of other people are keen to hear more from him too. both his raw winter and beaten trax eps were pretty popular releases for us and his dj appearances always create a stir, so we are pleased to bring you this, the arcane theory ep. the track sequencing on this record is pretty aggressive – front-loaded with the confrontational rise of the machines. a track that really lives up to its title, sounding like the production line at cyberdyne systems… all stomp and evil synths, like a bad mood e-dancer. fallout couldnt be further from that – relaxed and making no attempt at all to get in your face. itll win you over, though. just a nice, deep groove and a lovely, phased beat. could play it for hours… the whole of the flip is devoted to nomads, a chiming, acidic wander. nearly eleven minutes in length. the kicks never at the fore on this one – most of the action occurs at the mid and high frequencies – a resonant 303, lots of hi hats and, later, synths which expand on the eastern-flavour of the track title

ferocactus pilosus is a common species native to the mexican states of coahuila, durango, nuevo león, san luis potosí, tamaulipas, and zacatecas. colloquially known as the mexican fire barrel cactus, it can be found primarily on rocky limestone hills in semi-desert conditions in a variety of soil types. ferocactus pilosus is a clumping barrel/column cactus with distinct, thick red spines. it produces yellow and red flowers when in bloom and is regarded as a slow-growing yet hardy specimen for home cultivation. our botanists strive to source and produce high-quality specimens to enrich your mind as well as your ears. after many months in the field our team has returned with a diverse selection of sonic seedlings. following a series of meticulous experiments in our research facility each seedling has been deemed safe for general propagation and cleared for release.

j. f. burma is a new analog synth project of jeremy berman, a longtime friend of the bunker who we met via the forums of i-f’s cybernetic broadcasting system internet radio station in the early 2000’s. while living in brooklyn, jeremy spent many hours each week searching for undiscovered gems among the piles of records (and sometimes rat skeletons) at notorious greenpoint crate-digging spot the thing. inspired and educated by the music he was finding, he purchased his first modular and started building synthesizers and modules in spite of his lack of training in electrical engineering. currently, about half of his current eurorack rig has been diy’ed via trial and error.

theomatic is back with a surprise 12-inch from the labels mainman an-2. mint ep is a collection of four space-boogie jams spanning a variety of moods and tempos that have been recorded over the period of last couple of years. the lo-fi beats and pulsating kalimba-esque arpeggios on sigint create an instant feel of a sci-fi movie soundtrack, while an ultra-deep kick drum and a punchy bass on mint is a sure way to test your speaker performance. things get more chilled and pensive on the flipside with dusky downtowns brooding synthwork and rolling pads taking you on a stroll along glittering neon-lit city streets. last, but not least, amberflames take on dusky downtown is a steaming affair that uses tight compression and lush synths and to create that special euphoric dancefloor moment.

few artists have the ability to totally seduce over a few spins like herva. what may seem messy at first listen starts to fall into sharper definition and ‘hyper flux’ makes a very strong case for being his most seductive and mature record yet.

for their third release, hard beach entertainment dug deep into detroit history and unearthed the enigmatic dj scsi whose only release to date came out in ’97 on d-bass. never released before, these four cuts have been fished out from dj scsi’s own archive, uncovering some of the finest electro/ghetto house from the d. massive!

the album is a soundtrack of music inspired by the movie rubble kings and is out globally via mass appeal records. produced by longtime run the jewels collaborator little shalimar, the album features appearances from bun b, ghostface killah, killer mike, tunde adebimpe, mr muthaf*kin exquire, boldy james, cuz lightyear, ka and roxiny, in addition to run the jewels. scoring the film was the first time little shalimar set out to make period music. half of the music on this album was taken directly from the score and is heavily indebted to ‘60s and ‘70s soul and funk music. for the new tunes shalimar sampled joints from the score and created new beats out of them.
the grey marbled double lp version comes in a gatefold sleeve and includes an iron-on patch of the rubble kings plus a download code for the rubble kings album and documentary.
