lcd soundsystem, esg, stephin merritt (the magnetic fields), peaches und debbie harry (blondie) - eine so illustre gästeliste kann wohl franz ferdinand vorweisen. die oben genannten künstler wurden vom schottischen quartett überredet, für die covers ep, welche bereits erschienen ist, ihre songs zu covern. die beeindruckenden ergebnisse reichen von postpunk bis hin zu krawall-elektro und sind äußerst hörenswert! jetzt setzen wir noch mal einen drauf. zwei der coverversionen wurden nun vom pariser trio dop und von brennan green geremixed und erscheinen jetzt auf dieser 12inch!

green chili ep is first installment by berlin based artist ferdinand dreyssig.
the young talented producer is one of those artists who cannot be pinned down to one genre or style. he is focusing on vocal driven, beat oriented house music, along the lines of st. germain. you can hear that a man is at work who knows his gear well and is good in what he is doing. -72 degrees- opens the rhythmic ante with a greater emphasis on the kick, accented by rising keyboard wails with a preacher vocal. ferdinand s musicality is clearly apparent on - get on -, where he manipulates a blues groove into crunchy house beats, similar to st germain, but with a bit more modern dirt.
the mirabel track melds a fat kick and bassline with jazzy keys, and an infectious chant. yet again ferdinand dreyssig has demonstrated his mastery of electronic music but kept his trademark respect for space and depth and arrangements through fine attention to production details. house – disco – funk !
