tony scott drops his 2nd single for soma under the edit select moniker and continues to experiment with his deep and pervasive soundscapes. as we work toward his debut lp on the label, scott turns in 3 perfectly crafted and hypnotic techno affairs, drenched in smooth, calculated rhythms and mind bending atmospheres.

suitably deep production is always the order of the day with any edit select release and this one is no different. title track, the bridge, begins with a chugging beat before gradually undulating into epic soundscapes. flux takes a darker turn as twisted synths resonate throughout the typical atmospheric backdrop. tonalist creates more rhythmic scenes with intense percussive elements keeping the track moving.

glaswegian techno stalwart edit select presents the thirtieth effort in his edit select records series. “aftereffekts” is a 4 track release that opens with the thumping “the visitor”, this track combines puzzling percussive movements with otherwordly pads which subtly build to a hypnotic climax.
“fallen” is a broad sounding cut with an almost orchestral touch to it. the uncanny drum patterns and repetative fx make for a solid voyage. “aftereffect” is a percussion laden cut with soul touching strings that float throughout. “you” is a melancholic piece of art that incorporates heavenly pads with beautifully orchestrated rhodes sounds and a hypnotic drumtrack.

lanthan.audio, the newest label from christian gerlach, will release it’s debut ep as a special edition this july featuring an original mix from uk’s edit-select and spotlights remixes from two hypnotic troopers, claudio prc and mike parker. lanthan, literally, is a rare earth metal in addition to something hidden or evasive in terms of greek mythology. by combining music with both architecture and photography the goal is to not lose sight of all three art forms. born out of the desire to deliver a diverse package, the label will feature innovative, indestructible, and powerful remixes from some of his most respected producers.
