this production is a collaborative effort of jakarta-based divisi62 and berlin-based disk (formerly known as diskant). it features 4 tracks by the constituents of divisi62 that are inspired by indonesia’s urban slums, dangdut and pencak silat.
the entrance into a borderless landscape, the ambiguity of the main character, the warped signifiers, the sound image dissolving. one track, 13:50 of sonics, pressed in a single sided piece of vinyl and housed in a handmade silk screen printed cover.
gut ding will weile haben – und reichlich wumms am besten gleich noch mit dazu. zumindest dann, wenn es sich mal wieder um neue tracks aus dem engsten kreis der monkey maffia handelt. ganze vier jahre ist es inzwischen her, dass uns von dort aus der vorerst letzte teil des monkey maffia music club erreichte, eine 12inchinch voll funky-garstiger biester für die besten dancefloors dieser welt. zwischendurch erschien ein remix hier und ein track dort, doch nun gibts endlich wieder monkey maffia satt. und das nunmehr 75. release auf freude am tanzen gleich noch mit dazu! der soundtrack zu diesem feierlichen anlass kommt von monkey maffia höchstselbst. stichwort wumms: den bringen seine tracks stets genauso mit zur party wie massig tiefe und funk. denn als routinierter dj weiß der mann einfach, was eine lange nacht alles braucht hier wird die gerade bassdrum gebrochen, dort mit endlos warmen synths unterfüttert. in einem track klappern uns bass und percussion die sorgen aus dem leib, im nächsten flirren die pads und vocals sehnsüchtig um die wette. was auch immer passiert, langweilig wird’s auf dieser wie jener weltlichen erdscheibe mit sicherheit nicht.
let your brain slowly melt to the delightful sounds of dima disk. having first heard their music via the palace x bronze skate video a year or so ago, we did a bit of digging and it turned out to be by a duo called dima disk, one half of whom was an old glasgow pal called ragnar and robert nikolajev from tallinn s legendary club lekker. you may have heard their recent ripper on porridge bullet. having been fans of the shit coming out of estonia for a good few years and also having a thing for releasing music from our glasgow connections we felt that this needed to come out as a rad 12-.
as the range, james hinton has released previously on astro nautico, alongside other such rhythmic alchemists as obey city (now signed to lucky me), time wharp and howse (now signed to tri angle) as well as appearing on remix duties for kuhn on the london based civil music label. outside of this moniker he released >cower<, a full length under the alias stegosaurus, on his own sqwal recordings imprint.

three weeks before this trio recorded esp-disks first jazz album, the epochal spiritual unity, it was captured -live- by canadian poet paul haines (who also recorded the new york eye and ear soundtrack. this is one of the most influential groups in jazz history, a coming together of like-minded innovators who would be considered crucial influences by succeeding generations, so there is no question of the immense value of this material.
manoid returns to hafendisko this october with his debut long player ‘truth, comprising six original tracks on vinyl from the polish producer and live act. rising producer manoid has been steadily developing his unique approach to electronic music for the past few years, releasing his first tracks in 2014 and co-producing material for fellow polish artist pola rise, whilst taking his live act across the globe to the netherlands, south korea,iceland and more. here though, we see him marking a milestone in his career with his debut album for hafendisko, the hamburg-based sublabel of hfn music. across the truth lp manoid delivers an amalgamation of styles ranging from jazz-tinged electronica through to modern classical and techno- due to manoids origin often referred to as ‘forest techno. one half of darkness falls and trentemøller collaborator josephine philip also delivers vocals on ‘take me, adding yet another musical twist to the package, whilst further ideas came to fruition through field recordings such as ‘when which is based upon recordings from a textile museum in the city of lodz, and ‘for roses which was initially made as a lullaby for manoids niece but he felt was a little too dark so later developed it into this enchantingly eerie composition for the album. manoids debut album radiantly displays charm, maturity and musicality throughout and joins the thread of his musical influences and experiences perfectly.
