das album black kiss aus dem jahr 2020 begründete ihren aufstieg, und der nachfolger queen of the night aus dem jahr 2022 zementierte ihren wohlverdienten status als goth-lieblinge. aber vandal moon ist nicht die typische gothic-band. gründer blake voss hat sich schon immer den erwartungen des genres widersetzt. tatsächlich war vandal moon ursprünglich als ein experimentelles elektronisch-psychedelisches projekt geplant. seitdem hat sich die band zu gleichen teilen zu post-punk, synthpop, gothic und synthwave entwickelt.
