the second release in endless illusion s series of split eps comes from marcos cabral & daniel araya and features two tracks from each artist. new york s cabral is known for his experimental idm and techno on labels like l.i.e.s. while daniel araya has recently released an album of acid, techno and industrial on the classicworks label. araya s we almost lost detroit is first and is a truly haunted deep techno cut with sparse acid undulations and a real sense of manic in the rasping synth lines. softer pads in the background only add to the spooky nature of the track. ghost bass is the other araya cut and this one is more up on its toes, with mid tempo kicks down low and wonky chords up top. it s a mind melting tune that trips deep into the night. live at the egg is cabral s first effort and is a lonely and icy techno track that is supple and seductive in its long lines and paddy drums. after getting you into a state of hypnosis, some freaky vocal sounds only add to the unsettling nature of it all later on. cuts & bruises rounds things out in squelchy and depraved techno territory. muted acid stabs are off in the distance as swampy drums suck you in from the front. it s a brilliantly odd tune that close out a fine ep.

what would it feel like to have your naked body slowly submerged in a pool of steaming acid? one would expect unbearable pain, of course - beyond the limits of our imagination - but with his acid ambient vol. 1 on kontra-musik, daniel araya proves us wrong. the ems studio engineer and producer adjusts the intricate ph levels of this corrosive bubblebath with infinity skilled hands, making the experience thoroughly pleasurable - on the verge of erotic even. your skin melts away with a sweet sensation of laxity and your muscles and tendons dissolve sensually slow. at the end, nothing will remain below the surface but the pleasure center of your now diffused brain, pulsating with unrestrained satisfaction. so come on in, the acid is fine.

intergalactic, retro-futurist broken beat-ish track by legendary drum&bass producer seba teaming up with o persson under the east bound moniker. daniel savio follows with a laid-back spacey synth journey, spiced with a 70ies sci-fi flavor, yet with a modern approach. the b-side meanwhile takes off with a dark, yet progressive techno groover by young talent bonaca, ending with daniel araya s analogue-rich bomb, with a body-music type of vibe. operating under the radar, but romb records have so far been pushing an immensely diverse, yet cohesive soundscape of quality underground electronic music. the thirteenth release is no different, neatly summing up the label s genre-defying philosophy, presenting a four track collage of electronic mastery. that s how you do it!

the dance is the result of a long lasting musical love affair between kontra-musik s ulf eriksson and sebastian mullaert (aka minilogue). as most love affairs, it started off as an exciting experiment: ulf would play records and sebastian would bring out his music gear and play a live set. as they were touring with this live concept, their sounds started to really integrate, and after one especially fine night at trouw, amsterdam, ulf and sebastian decided it was time to conceive the dance. once the decision was taken, everything else came naturally. the dance was to be recorded live, in one take, at kontra-musik s home field inkonst, malmo, sweden.
