harvey sutherland’s latest 12” marks the inaugural release for clarity recordings, an imprint established by sutherland for modern australian records. the first new music from the melbourne producer since last year’s cuts for mcde, the double a-side priestess / bravado features his live trio bermuda at full tilt, with an ensemble of hand clapping friends. self-described “lounge room disco burners”, the record summons the groove experiments of patrick adams, bill laswell and arthur russell, while retaining harvey’s soulful tones and club-ready arrangements. priestess evolves slowly, a nine-minute mind dance that ultimately reaches a celestial state. sutherland’s piano lines bounce off drummer graeme pogson’s unwavering four-on-the-floor, while one-man string section tamil rogeon travels skyward. live standout bravado is played with determined precision, locking into a tough backbeat that only breaks once sutherland’s warbling lead solo approaches its resonant peak.
keeping the momentum going seems fairly easy for barac as he unveils the long awaited second ep on his moment imprint. last years have seen barac evolve in a very lucrative way, yet only his best productions seem to be making their way top. it is clearly the case for this second ep which features two of his solo masterpieces. moment of clarity is electronic poetry at its best. barac delivers the proverbial summer sunrise directly into your speakers and ultimately into your heart. this track is meant to never be forgotten. without changing the soundscape too much barac has a slightly different approach on side b. things get a little more serious with sun & following being driven by a catchy bass and a haunting atmosphere. this tune is as bomb in the night as the other one is in the daylight.

following on from the success of their self titled label compilation in october, the livity sound collective returns for a final transmission in 2013 courtesy of their sister label dnuos ytivil. horo gives true artists the freedom to represent the full extent of their talent and it is not often the cerebellum is truly engaged with the genre we have grown from but music for the mind is one of our over-arching ideals. and so we come to *scope*, the 10th release, a full length compilation spread over 5 vinyl 12 inches. deviating somewhat from our vinyl only position up to this point, given the scale and magnitude of this project scope will also be released on cd & digital, although there will also be 5 vinyl only tracks by way of thanks to the vinyl buyers that have supported the label up to this point. 24 tracks of uncompromising, innovative music from horo mainstays and new artists alike, scope represents where we have come from, but moreover, where we will be going. this is just the beginning.
