giovanni damico keeps amazing things coming and takes it with this release on the mighty label kalakuta soul records to the next level. joining forces with the mighty gabriele spagnuolo and francesco di domenico on guitars and saxophone, the italian boogie doctor brings to life three filthy stompers inspired by amazing artists from the african continent who have shaped what we now call (dance) music. to felas people is one of three stompers delivered for this joint teaming up with mr. villy odili - lead singer of the amazing nigerian band villy and the extreme volumes - whos precise lyrics and drifty voice joins forces with a charging afrobeat rhythm hailing from giovanni damicos bad ass laboratory. afro stomp and baba on the other side come with the most furious drums and bassline one could ever imagine accompanied by a celestial instrumentation that hits the mind, the soul and the hips.

multi culti s lucid-lifestyle dreamer peter power takes us on a free-wheeling trip to the motherland on afro damba. the irish-born voodoohop resident has returned from the jungles of bahia with a fresh ep of primal party tracks sampling voices and rhythms from across africa and it s neighbouring islands, producing what is easily his most club-oriented work to date. whereas his tracks for voodoohop were spiritual flute-heart-openers, these are neo-pagan mating-ritual floor-fillers. the rhythm is set to tribal chug, with rollicking percussion, reverb-soaked vocals, and all the fun jangly bells & bits you expect to be hanging off such a well-traveled producer. if that weren t enough, we enlisted romanian-dance-duo khidja to rework adama waro resident mix-lord dreems also weighs in with a subtle remix of dansakoni, gently upping the tempo and tweaking the knobs in selfless service of the original groove.

the third release on palms & charms comes from tokyo club stalwart masanori ikeda (mansfield, ikeda x), who has had previous releases on the legendary flower records and cos/mes imprint snaker. a resident dj at london club wag in the early 90 s, masanori returned to japan later in the decade and has since provided the soundtrack to many a tokyo night-time adventure, most recently with his continuing residency at shibuya institution oath. with afro tipsy, masanori offers up a monster of rolling percussion and pulsating synths. feel the stress of the day fall away, your veins flowing as if with the very energy of a thousand suns. moving confidently to the dance floor, your head and limbs begin to move in new and unexpected rhythms. don t be alarmed - you feel good. on the flipside, the remix from almunia (claremont 56) takes you deeper than deep. the sound envelops you as you enter the club. the continental winds and low pressure lift you aloft and you circulate around the dance floor, carried far as if on a warm jet stream. the rhythm drives, dubbed-out guitar echoing through the night. leonardo ceccanti and gianluca salvadori taking you to new places.

is it balearic bring the heat with a stunning release from sorcerer. the first track is zulu honda. skipping thick drums and a bouncing bass overlaid with nu med guitars and beautiful synth lines. this track is made for pool parties and lofts. the second track is afro vibes a more atmospheric percussive groove. maribas throbbing bassline and slightly melancholic guitars eventually make way for a subtle acid accent before returning to the groove.. salins jockey club remix zulu honda adding some lovely elements while holding the original feel. top draw from the dependable iib crew
