sing with me: much in the same vein of the mannheim house sound made popular by artists like johnny d, nick curly, christian burkhardt etc. bretts gives us a deep but driving track centered around an african boy singing. brett chops the sample up to create a choir of ethereal voices to support the boys singing. as the track progresses it takes a left turn into weirdville through some dramatic synth tweaks & sweeps. this track is perfect for anyone who likes to dance standing up, with their head down and first firmly in the air. speaking japanese: many people will tell you learning to speak japanese is one of the most difficult languages to learn, and theyre right. lucky for you, brett has done all the work by translating his message into sound. the core inspiration for this track is based on a sample from a song by get physical owner and artist mandy. they were kind enough to let brett use the sample and run wild with it. the result is 8 minutes and 12 seconds of over driven 909s, rolling bass lines and a pad so thick you need a fork to eat it. all of this keeps the calm while frantic chatter and out of this world fxs take you to a japanese after party somewhere in shibuya.

legworks 2nd single comes from another one of our texas compatriates, the indelible brett johnson, fresh off some amazing work on classic, get physical, rawax and other killer imprints. the mission harks back to some of our favourite dub-techno moments, but keeps its own flare with bretts signature robo-rhythms and chopped and screwed vocal cuts. on the remix tip, its label head lance desardi & convextion bringing their own flavour to the table respectively, with lance stepping to the chord memory, deep bass, and over sampled drums, and convextion going all the way out into hyper space with his usual sub-aquatic space funk.

a three-track release from the prolific french producer brett longman. after a lot of experiences all across europe and a pretty extensive discography, his creativity combined with his production skills makes him one of the most versatile artist today. from rythmic minimal techno to road movie blues or melodic songs, he now enters a crooner techno genre that he is inventing along the way.

here it is: the first tex-kraut dish that has been cooking the last months in c-rocks studio and got extra seasoning by hamburgs rising tech-house-heroes marc poppcke and kruse & nuernberg.

brett johnson returns with four quality southern fried cuts on the first installment of >things that go bump in the night<. keeping true to form bj comes out swinging on the a side with two mixes of >southern dandy<. a funky, tech injected bouncer that pops in all the right spots. and if those pops are too much for you then you have an ace of a dub mix to keep the things smooth. >sensual summations< is deep house burner designed to warm up the floor. again bjs calculated funky drums and hip flexin basslines spliced with a choral style synth stab and rise. quality house music from one of the genres true masters.

sometimes a track is so hot it just has to come back around again. about ten years ago brett johnson and dave barker (stucco homes) wrote some unbelievably catching house tunes, one of them being temptation and lies. so it just seemed right to give this track yet another life. deadbeat and mike shannon dive deep into a stripped down techno groover, removing the constant use of the vocals and creating a rolling techno dub version. some seriously deep bass in the production that works the subs in all the right places. ernesto ferreyra and guillaume coutu dumont aka chic miniature give you a playful melodic version on the flip. full use of the original chord progressions, combined with the guys signature marimba/latin percussion leaving you with a lush, warm summer hit. then brett dives into the track again giving you the oohs and ahhs mix. a ten minutes work out with bjs patented groove focused on the vocal harmonies in the original. the result is a warped, spaced out, long player that is sure to twist a few heads. mental just about sums it up. of course we had to include the original masterpiece for those who didnt find it the first time round. a favorite of everyone involved on the remix project i think youll agree that the temptation and lies cynosure mixes do the original some justice.
