sadly betty botox is no longer with us. she departed planet earth in 2010 and leaves a gaping hole amongst all those who knew her. she left behind a dat tape in her studio with the final ep written on the cover in lipstick, which her closest confidants feel she wanted to be her last statement to the world. so, after a slight delay, two years later, 4 tracks that were regular features in her musically wayward dj sets are now available for her to fans to hear and play. combining her love for psyche funk, cosmic synth, space rock and late 70s stadium rock these reworkings, remixes, refixes and reproductions of known and unknown tracks are sure to be hits on non-conservative dance floors everywhere.
!!!mixmags tune of the month 5/5!!!
bot ox guys, cosmo vitelli and julien briffaz, perfect pair of its kind, return where they somehow belong: the dancefloor of a club. their remixes for other artists - logo, aladdin and even the unexpected toxic avenger - showed their soft spot for dancing, lately. this pair of tracks brings something special as they feature the foremost poets for the vocal part.. a figure of the underground dance music wall of fame, the foremost poets aka johnny dangerous is also a voice that techno and deep house lovers keep in a corner of their imagination: >i ll beat that bitch with a bat<, >reasons to be dismal<, >moonraker<, >pressin on<.... two versions of >perfect pair< are proposed along the most classical standards: an >original< one and a >dub< 13-minutes one. each of them have their own progressive, undated flavor
due to popular demand and before the release of their first album >babylon by car<, bot ox asked to a bunch of talented producers to remix their pop single >blue steel<. para one and tacteel are celebrating their come back with a outstanding midtempo remix.
alongside the release of his long awaited first album and his endless world tour, yuksek found the time to make a remix for his old pals of im a cliché. and the result is killer. he kept the melodic dimension of the original and used his skills to turn it into a huge floor filler.
after one year composing in isolation, bot ox is tackling 2009 at full throttle. following the 12 releases on dfa and dc recording last year, cosmo vitelli and julien briffaz are coming back on im a cliche to release three singles till 2009 put together like a trilogy. here is the first single including arab drift and rue de l arsenal.
bot ox, the super team of cosmo vitelli & tekel, deliver another slice of avant garde electro with babylon by car already being hammered by francois k, stevie kotey, simian mobile disco & more. expect their unique brand of dark & twisted electro tinged disco. includes the title track plus the b side tragedy symphony.
while everyone else was enjoying the summer of the century ( and probably the world cup ) the botox boys hurled themselves in the studio and indulged into a cosmic electronic >kraut< session. on the hard stomping >lada rock< cosmo vitelli lays down a stoic one note bassline and grants tekels julien briffaz some time to get freaky with hard metallic, stumbling beats behind his drumkit before skanking guitar chords preludes several minutes of countless dramatic organ and synth erruptions. after this wild freak-out your body gets a rest, its now the mind that gets messed with, the slow moving >drive by shooting< with its neverending, grinding, menacing cascades of hot-lava like synth tides sounds like a dark balearic tune on bad acid
this reissue of the small batch of records which was at first released in 2015 now comes to the stores in this years fall. the record is the successor of the record bombtrap1 which is also called restless breed by chip tronic from 2004. * during the year 2014 the idea emerged to have these tracks remixed by musical friends, like minded artists were contacted by email or chat and samples were uploaded. during this process it became clear that it would be a better option not to do only remixes of the original tracks but instead to include tracks which have the same mood of the original which is industrial wonly dark techno, straightforward but quirky at the same time. * so the concept of doing a pure remix was enhanced to the upgrade idea. hence the number increased. apart from this maybe confusing history tree – it was a kind of freaky concept idea , but the label name can sometimes explains it – the resulting fruit which is this record contains 5 very different tunes. every record needs a kind of opener / hymn. the a1 is: flekk-botox_neoflekk. flekk takes the original robox neotech track and transforms it into a crispy blend between dutch electro , british wonky techno and french techno from the first zero years. the tune might have much cheese but this its character. bon appetit !
yellow colored vinyl - deluxe gatefold sleeve - limited to 200 copies
this new album is the longest and more ambitious work they had produced to date, including up to 14 new tracks where find their usual eclectic amalgam of dance oriented darky styles, from ebm to synth pop, passing by electro beats, pure coldwave, italo disco or classical synthwave. all tracks has been recorded using only analog synthesizers captured on a external recorder without make use of daw digital conversions, excepting on the final process of digital mastering . all tracks has been mastered and remastered specially for vinyl by eric van wonterghem at prodam studio (berlin).
>we are proud of our choices< is a delightful listen in every sensibility and truly brings his artistic talent as a dj and producer together in a very personal mix. we certainly hope you enjoy this landmark addition to our series as much as we do and leave you with ewan pearsons own words about his mix
