damian lazarus & the ancient moons have released their new track ‘feedback loop’. this is the latest single to be taken from their forthcoming new album heart of sky, out on july 20th through crosstown rebels/bmg. showcasing the warm textures of jesse appiah’s soulful vocals and the ancient moons’ top notch production, ‘feedback loop’ already sounds like a classic and is undoubtably one of the album’s key moments. the song is about a.i., a conversation between man and machine, and rolls out of the speakers like a 21st century update of bristol’s wild bunch sound system. remixes for the dancefloor from bedouin and serge devant, plus dubs from the legendary mad professor, follow on all formats next month.
hoj’s ep on all day i dream has been a long time coming. after over 15 years as a dj, this ep marks hoj’s first official release. telefade is a track that hoj had been evolving for some time. after a final session with modd, hoj took the track to burning man where he played it for the first time. lee burridge heard it and signed the tune on the spot. featuring haunting vocals from amega. the second track on the ep is called leap day, named for the day in 2016 that hoj began it. made for sunrises and sunsets, the tune weaves through lush melodies with a bounce. powel’s delicate and refined touch brings a sophistication to leap day.
bedouin was first featured on the label s 2015 summer sampler with flight of birds helping build their reputation as master music makers. following on from this is their first full ep on all day i dream. each track casts its own unique spell. one thing rami and tamer know is mood. opening with straight to the heart beauty and hypnotic vibes abound. sounding as good pitched up as it does at it s patient pace, it s groove ignites the dance floor as well as the heart. the way home takes it s time to build textures and layers creating a more somber mood. the ep is close out with the vocals of eric volta on sight, perfectly complimenting the overall mood of the release. music for floating on clouds to...
SET THE CONTROLS FOR THE HEART OF THE SUN (GUY GERBER REMIX)
12" Vinyl UK29.08.17
bedouin is the brooklyn-based production and dj partnership between nomads rami abousabe and tamer malki. bringing their unique spell of melodies and rhythms to crosstown rebels, they deliver their cover version of the famous pink floyd classic, set the controls for the heart of the sun. guy gerber also steps in to deliver a deeply mystical dance floor remix. sharing an eclectic sonic vision that pulls from diverse influences owing to their middle eastern heritage, western upbringing, and world travels, here bedouin deliver some of their best productions to date. “getting the chance to play the song to pink floyd’s drummer nick mason personally and him liking it was very exciting for us. we re also happy to have the very talented and our good friend guy gerber to be the first ever to remix one of our tracks. the b-side, ‘guacamole’, is an original track conceived in mexico and made for the dance floor.” in 2016, as well as touring the world extensively, bedouin curated a compilation entitled kindisch stories and had the honour of recording an essential mix for pete tong’s bbc radio 1 show. 2017 saw the launch of their brand saga at heart ibiza, where they turn ibiza sundays into a mirage of musical odysseys. guy gerber also runs his highly successful rumors party in ibiza on sundays, which takes the same name as his acclaimed record label.
inspired by life on the touring circuit, this ep takes its name from a night the producer spent in sliema, malta. produced to mirror the frenetic movement of (night)life on the road, the album jumps violently between poles of darkness, familiarity, paranoia and comfort in the club.
four labyrinthine excursions in psychedelic techno, from antonio marini. take a step back... move to the side, just a touch... there... acid, dub and free jazz, focalising like heat blisters, then healed in a flash. wayward flow, for example, with the ghosts of double bass and bongos swirling in from the margins. entheogenic freak-outs, with the left profile of robert hood, the right profile of vangelis. pressing on 180 gram vinyl.
elegies-in-waiting to the monotonous dread of exploitative labour, dosed with elliptical distortion, industrial noise and ear-crushing bass. in the lineage of pan sonic, sun o))), and the more gruelling scott walker productions. vex d veteran roly porter drops by with a sci-fi reinvention of council flat, trading in if s mogadon footwork and megaton polyrhythms for a less apocalyptic, more introspective blend of modern classical, dark ambient and dirty stinking breakbeat. pressing on 180 gram vinyl.
this release captures kicks, rhythms, and snares—only to drag them kicking and screaming into a metallic underworld. in j. tijn’s echo-sphere, there are only allusions to the status quo of sound and beats, and never a full-fledged embrace of the conventional. on side a’s “kanon v.i.p.” a grizzly digital war is left to play out between both kick and snare, with grainy battle lines drawn around upbeat and downbeat. survivors of the conflict are rewarded with a groove reminiscent of grime, if only the genre had been reborn in a dystopian future. side b opens with a roughneck beat on “mor” before turning its hand into a fist and effectively destroying its own image. the groove lives through this barrage of sound, but as a heavy and dark undercurrent just strong enough to remind you where j.tijn’s roots are. “shy” lures you in with a rounded electro kick, before glutting the rhythm and ushering in a wall of sound. a snowstorm of screaming drum samples proceed to surround you: you may have been here before, but you are somewhere rhythmically unseen. embedded in all of these tracks are perhaps a sign of the times: the things that used to be seen as normal have now changed and mutated.
one of kindischs first releases of the year has come to us via the duo known as bedouin. after their ‘mirage ep that dropped last summer causing some serious waves in electronic music … tamer malki, along with partner rami abousabe have served up their new ep called ‘whispering words of wisdom, as their first joint venture for kindisch

as the climate cools down in australia, temperatures are rising in europe and one of italys finest selectors has taken charge of people must jams eighth record. deja vu is a ep that has been a long time in the making. the result, we hope you will agree has been worth the wait. the title track kicks the ep off with a killer funk groove that riccio works into something we think mark e would be happy with. dyson jam is an original cut that channels some of his inner moodymann vibes - heads down, lights down, fader up... for the b side we asked the incredible payfone (who has been racking up a solid string of releases on golf channel) to remix dyson jam and he has created a perfect contrasting remix to the rest of the tracks of the ep. a deep journey that takes the original into sub-dawn territory. 4am vibes! the final cut of the ep mystical stretcher, is a late night jazzy funk number. again a little mahogani inspired...

a fantastic mid-60s album from grant green, but one that never got its due originally, because it was unreleased at the time – and didn t come out until a japanese issue during the 70s.
