originally from columbus, ohio and now residing in new york city, myungho choi issues four new tracks on a touch of class. on these four dizzying tracks, choi again powers his stampeding funk grooves, ecstatic voices, and somersaulting rhodes melodies with classic soul bass lines. his stoked mix of soul, jazz, and house proves exhilarating in the steaming strutter lovin you today and high velocity disco anthem shakin bricks. less aerodynamic and earthier by comparison, the low slung party funk groove in how long till dawn would sound perfectly at home in a parliament funkadelic set, especially when voices chant shake and havin fun and horns blaze over a steaming stomp. the closer we aint leaving revisits the benson funk style of moment by moment by looping a guitar vocal fragment over a relentless minimal disco pulse. this ep. is without a doubt a true disco house infection and a definite one for the dance floor, which is not to be missed.

the not-particularly mysterious bristol / manchester duo yung bingles & lil chimpz combine again on two strictly limited vinyl only grime / jungle anthems, both tested around the world in the most demanding raves on road. on the mango side, a joy orbison classic gets mashed up with the classic devil mix of east connection s early grime anthem we re ready in a junglist style and fashion, while on the sceptre side, i don t know why man s calling me family is the question being asked rhetorically at 170bpm. support from everyone basically

sami baha is a turkish producer based in south east london. his music was introduced to the world via his 2016 ep “mavericks” (planet mu), recorded while he was moving from istanbul to london where he’s now been living the last 3 years. sami got into producing through being a rapper himself, working with local rappers in turkey and producing beats for them, before setting his sights outside the country.
while his first record was focused around a more familiar trap based hiphop sound, “free for all” expands its range into more unfamiliar territory and also brings his production into focus by featuring a number of mcs from all corners of the globe: uk drill squad 67’s dimzy, stockholm’s yung lean and chicago rapper and singer dj nate (aka flexxbabii) who’s previously recorded on planet mu as a footwork producer. the record also features the rowdy sing-song of egyptian mcs dawsha and abanob from cairo whom sami met while on tour in egypt.
phat 2018 re-issue, w&p by chris brann for wamdue productions.
deep fall originally released in 1997 is delicious collection of deep tech-house. stand outs are the aptly named title track with beautiful synth washes and a single mournful modulated violin at its centre and the emotional journey to the centre which if it doesn t move you then nothing will.

nice price deal !!! after the blunted murk of their previous self-titled mini-album on idle hands, amos jabu childs and sam neek barrett return to the place where their most fragmented ideas manifest in fleeting glimpses of tracks. theirs is a teasing approach, where all the facets of a fully formed track are condensed down to one or two minutes of distilled excellence.

faze’s immersive and powerfully psychoactive tracks evoke a soundclash of styles: an explosive meeting of bass-heavy genres from across both sides of the atlantic. his debut album epitomises modern dance music’s global ear while still remaining deeply connected to its local geographical roots. it mutates and reshapes his influences like sonic putty, with atlanta rap’s elemental bass ooze forming a backbone for drums that recall both jungle and grime in the way they hammer, spin and clatter through space – and in turn send dancers richocheting across the floor.
