first word records is very proud to present a brand new ep from yazmin lacey - ’when the sun dips 90 degrees’.
this ep follows on from her two recent singles, ’90 degrees’ and ‘something my heart trusts’, both of which are included here, along with three previously unreleased tracks, ’heaven’, ‘body needs healing’ and ’burn & rise’. this set illustrates again yazmin’s candid songwriting delivered in her uniquely laidback soulful style, whilst a glorious fusion of neo-soul and jazz performed by pete beardsworth and her trusty band rides throughout.

famous for their matching, colourful suits and always-happy smiles, beyaz kelebekler (white butterflies) were a mixed-gender turkish band very popular during the 70s. they released one album plus numerous 45s in turkey and other countries like holland and italy. in 1976 during the last day of their european tour, just after one gig in cologne, beyaz kelebekler visited a studio of a friend which was still in construction. they decided to record a few songs, just for fun and for testing the new studio equipment. it was a very basic, one take recording, using an 8-channel mixer, a few mics and a reel-to reel tape machine. the result was an amazing example of anatolian psych-funk, featuring wah-fuzz guitar, flute, heavy drums, joyous male / female vocals. unreleased until now, here is the first ever release of these surprising recordings, rescued from the only surviving cassette tape.

eidetic welcomes kovyazin d & moralez for the 2nd release of the series. based in moscow & saint petersburg, dmitry kovyazin & alexandr moralez between them have released on respected labels such m.o.s, chiwax, new flesh & international deejay gigolo. the night watch brings the two of them together for the first time for an intergalactic rollercoaster ride, swerving between jacking techno and starry eyed electro.

solid gold playaz hails from winsconsin usa. the duo, kenny gino & big mike are veterans of the midwest rave, techno and house scene and have released their incredible productions on moods & grooves, kanzerlamt, soulfuric trax, silver network, losonofo records. minds beneath atlantis was originally released in 2003 by jeff ks silver networks. jerome (of still music) immediately fell for this deep house 4 tracker and that record has been steadily in jeromes crates through the years. jerome remembers reaching out to kenny gino back then and they ve been friends since then. this reissue is a teaser for a larger project with solid gold playaz that will be released on still music later this year.

after two fine eps on chiwax, russian dj and producer dmitry kovyazin aka kovyazin d now makes his debut on the dutch label mos deep. he serves up three tracks of house that fit perfectly with the misty, roughshod vibe of the well established label. this is classic house with a modern twist and is truly filled with a rare sense of narrative.
