you may not have heard the name jackson almond before, but you will have likely heard some of his music. having released on wotnot back in 2013 under the name real, with a flurry of eps, remixes and bootlegs under this name and as part of duo boean (on bbe, warner, xvi & slowfoot among others), jackson has been delighting ears for a while now, with a particular knack for balancing hooks and earworms with original ideas and creative production. this ep began life as a series of headphone jams written when jackson was living outside of the city in self-imposed exile, tuning into the goings on in dance music from an external position. it was then polished into dancefloor gems at the wotnot studio at the total refreshment centre. the music reflects this, with the sonic palette reflecting lo-fi and outsider house, but with a warmth, depth and musicality specific to his own personal situation.

k15 returns to wotnot after more killer releases on eglo & wild oats, a collaboration with henry wu, and remixes for nubya garcia, colm k (on tiffs joints) and wotnot s own william florelle, not to mention the beautiful record earlier this year under his culross close alias. we re all creative but somehow, being creative has become a class within itself, often defined and measured by the whims of popular culture and monetary gain, which leads us to devalue what we create if we are not successful by those metrics. we are all creative, we all use our experience, talent and feeling to shape and we should be glad we create anything. this ep holds onto this mantra tightly throughout, reflecting both the meditative and joyful effects of unimpeded creativity. the title track begins with k15s signature introspection, deep washes of jazz-inflected textures before exploding into a rapturous syncopated synth groove. b1 communion explores the spiritual angle with a devotional piano cadence over bouncing drum pattern, with interlocking bass and synth rhythms adding to the hypnotic mood. wrapping up the release is a warm, deep-soak hip hop instrumental titled you re alive (theres still time), a message to self but also a beacon of hope to those who have maybe not created as much as they would have liked, or have strayed from the path the intended to take.

since his appearance on soccer96s jupiter masterdrive edits ep (alongside danny krivit and glenn astro flips, also on wotnot ) in 2015, and subsequent eps on wotnot, monologues and sgol, danvers has swiftly become a name to pay attention to. as a regular appearance on co-ops selectors assemble, both live and on their recent comp vol. 2, he s established himself as a new and original voice on the broken beat scene. his recent the future is broken mix series highlights his ear for unconventional dance music, something that makes him extremely at home on the wildly creative wotnot (thanks dj mag). the opening two tracks are strongly in the broken beat vein. mason opens with dreamy, rhodes jazz over a bruk beat with rolling snare fills, lulling us into a false sense of security before switching to an offbeat but irresistible squelchy synth groove. similarly, in aye ata the pulsing chord that slowly grows out of the beat suddenly turns the track around with a rhythmic twist, showing the playful broken beat in a whole new light. there s a house touch throughout the ep, none more so than in 1997, where a bouncing kick, soulful claps and a booming sub provide a steadier basis for laid back rhodes chords and dreamy spoken word samples. as a big influence on danvers music, frits wentink is welcomed onto remix duty with open arms. the wolf music regular brings an otherworldly vibe to his take on 1997 , with enchanting but almost disorienting chord swells and spiralling vocal fx punctuated with crisp snare rolls. the ever-busy danvers recently launched 38 east , a studio space and music community, with warren xlnce . warren s remix of 1997 was a surprise gift to his business partner and collaborator, and is a deeper house cut, joe armon jones (brownswood) rhodes jam over the track bringing a distinct peckham flavour. dj support from ig culture, andwot (touching bass), neue grafik & evm128 (co-op) t williams

wotnot are proud to unveil another new exciting artist, songwriter/producer william florelle, who follows in the footsteps of previous debutantes like k15 (who features here), glenn astro, deft and many other now established (or quickly establishing) artists. the will flo project aims to deliver unique collaborations with each output, evolving to suit the combined inspiration of william and his collaborators. while he names a staggering variety of musical styles among his influences, this release takes the form of a highly swung, left-field r&b, with jazz and afro-beat influences. think 22a with more pronounced r&b flavours.

we re really excited to be able to put one of our favourite ever wotnot releases to wax. it s a release that makes us particularly proud as we convinced k15 to let one of his house tracks out of the archive for the first time ever, as well as securing one of the few tracks to have been heard from up-and-coming wunderkind glenn kelly (jeeks), before he retired early from the circuit. four years after it dropped digitally, featured artists k15 and imyrmind have become household names, releasing music with eglo, wild oats, tartelet and money $ex records among others. this re-release also includes a new track from sexruleseverything who also featured on the original release. the tracks on this ep still stand strong, and the vinyl drops alongside the release of dancefloor sweets vol. 2, with more to come in 2017.

in accord with wotnot s knack for nurturing talent, our first dancefloor sweets featured an early appearance from tartelet & money $ex artist imyrmind, and the first ever k15 house track! volume 2 continues in this vein with a new pick n mix bag of feel-good crowd-pleasers from evm128, body-san, danvers and galactic ganesh, while volume 1 also receives a long overdue (limited) press to vinyl, with a new added track from sexruleseverything.

repress 2016 , stop what you are doing right now, you have just found that record that stays with you all summer. the record to soundtrack the bbq, to gently raise the energy on a hazy evening, to baffle the midnight marauders into dancefloor destruction, to give the early morning ravers that extra kick. that one more song.

2014 was a great year for glenn astro, but appearances on dj kicks (brandt brauer frick) and brownswood among other labels, numerous remixes, and a string of beautifully-crafted eps already look set to be eclipsed in 2015. the essen-based producers collaboration ep with max graef will launch their new label money $ex records in january, while his debut lp is to follow on tartelet records in the spring

on jupiter masterdrive the london synth and drum duo further hone their blend of jazz, prog and electronica within the confines of brevity demanded by the 7 format. recorded direct-to-tape over a few heady sessions, these tracks bear the palpably unfolding, organic beauty of improvisation and live recording while conveying ever deeper levels to the pairs musical and artistic vision. the band recorded these pieces in constant experimentation with their tape machine, trying different approaches and techniques for each track this is a small glimpse into the process and a tantalising sample from an expansive body of recordings.

every once in a while, there comes an artist who taps into the zeitgeist of music while injecting a lethal dose of individuality at the same time. glenn astros brand of 80s-and-90s-inspired house and hip hop contains an organic glow, a glorious shuffle, which sets the essen-based producer aside from his contemporaries. with releases on big bait, odd socks and ritmo sportivo, glenn has made fans of the likes of move d, dj ez, casino times and medlar, whose killer remix features on this release alongside a dark stomper from deft.

with a handful of sparky releases, wotnot music are fast becoming a label with an excellent reputation for creating experimental electronic music. their next release is from label co-owner charo and is a sparse yet melodic little number that darts about with whimsical charm.
