wiggle celebrate 25 years and relaunch their iconic label with a releases including co-founders terry francis, nathan coles and eddie richards, as well as artists like d’julz, silverlining, mihai popoviciu, and more.
back in the early 90s dave coker, justin bailey and laurant webb set up a music production studio a stones throw away from the famous cutty sark in greenwich, along with dave deptford pine as one the founders of the aforementioned studio. they called themselves strangeweather, worked on different dance music styles and formed the fabulously awesome, but slightly ill fated band wubble u. around the same time justin struck up a friendship with nathan coles, a then madly enthusiastic young dj who was starting to make a name for himself on the thriving underground house scene. nathan introduced justin to terry francis and the rest of the crew and collectively the formed housey doings. they released two records on the bush subsidiary imprint green grass and as if by magic tech house was officially born. fast forward a couple of years and the boys replaced the s with a ‘z and struck out on their own. this is a re-release of the first record on the label they named after the now legendary club night wiggle. two sides of proper, uk style tech house - a sound thats been copied, plagiarized and endlessly imitated. but never bettered
the very first release is by montreal based artist, stefny winter who emerges here with a wonderfully crafted tuned project. slightly stripped down but at the same time, providing a low end, fizzle bass, winter pushes hypnotic rhythms with a not so subtle smirk. a wink to audion, or a perlonesque aesthetic, this ep ensues a groovy moment as well as heartily groove.
after the greatly received karabine ep, renegades of jazz return with another storming limited 12 inch vinyl on wass records which is dedicated to a love of modern dance floor music and rich in a northern jazz sound.
tech-house innovator terry francis (pagan , surreal, l.h.b , fabric) teams up with lorenzo for two cuts of deep tech e-music of the highest order. expect plays from the likes of dave mothersole, nathan coles, mr c.
an array of killer electro styles make up the second release in the eel behaviour series. featuring the legendary cisco ferreira aka the advent (alongside his son zein) with replicants, umwelt and galaxian also in tow.
to celebrate reaching our 20th release, we’re launching a series of 6 compilation eps named eel behaviour . starting with a bang through the haunting mechanical acid of delta funktionen’s “alternate reality”, it’s followed by uplifting broken techno from exciting new london-based talent imogen. autumns enters a more tense area with the slow and dense ebm-flavoured “recovery” while a barrage of weird, vocal-infused beats from bristol’s giant swan, brings the record to a chaotic end on “the sun inside jaden smith”. limited edition transparent orange vinyl, in a custom hologram-stickered pvc sleeve.
we re very happy to welcome the mighty historical repeater, for their first full ep. historical repeater is the collaborative project of ctrls and solid blake, and here they unload four tracks of supreme sonic quality. channeling the spirit of classic techno with high-level sound design, alongside tricky, raw electro that doesn t compromise, historical repeater arrive with a carefully distilled sound that stands out from the crowd. from the trance-inducing title track -scientific calculator- to the insistent, pulsing groove of closing cut -say nothing-, this record is especially characterized by its weird vox hooks and deft rhythms – underpinned by a swirling sea of dynamic, digital synthesis. in short, it s a belter! early support from ben ufo, perc, happa, randomer, anastasia kristensen, rebekah and more.
after a big contribution to our tenth release compilation back in 2014 (via his track “4×4″,), defekt makes a long overdue full ep debut on earwiggle with his most overloaded 12” to date. while recently conspiring to make the first tinfoil album, he applies some similar grit here, while still retaining enough classic defekt components. displaying the full repertoire of his sound over 5 tracks – from tougher techno to acid to melodic electro to ebm – every one here is a killer in its own right. do not miss! early support from ben ufo, dave clarke, the hacker, boddika, boys noize, uvb, perc and more.
so, after a little break we’re back with a new release. this time we’re joined by the multi-talented production powerhouse that is swarm intelligence (aka simon hayes). landing heavy with four bruising techno cuts that each find their own unique way of taking your head off, ear017 is a bumpy journey through darker club flavours. ‘flatlands’ opens things up, reminiscent of the type of marching, granite-heavy brum techno of old – this is minimal in construction but maximum in its impact. move forward to ‘ground up’ where demonic, dissonant keys take the lead above a rattling midrange that sounds like a corrugated roof ready to fly off. opting for cleaner, elastic drum patterns on ‘tingla’, hayes swaps tense for dense, with a loud take on steppy techno, that’ll please fans of some of blawan’s earlier work. ‘skitz’ starts out an a more dub tip with a wailing, paranoia inducing hook and snaking rhythms, eventually joined by more hard-hitting broken kicks, leading us comfortably into oblivion.
nice price deal !!! fresh from a big 2010 that saw corrosion become many peoples candidate for album of the year, and a follow up 12inch with remixes from autechre and the black dog that brought even greater attention to the project, the next job for anodyne (colin cloughley) is to now release what is bizarrely his debut solo 12inch. while corrosion showed colins love for early black dog and warp records, this ep starts off with the more growling intent of destruction - a thundering techno/dubstep hybrid that brings together the rawest elements of both genres, punctuated by suitably eerie undertones and venomous bass-heavy snarl - a true club monster if ever there was one. a2 is a straight hitting acid/hoover attack that descends into all sorts of chaos - reminiscent of the power of polygon window coupled with the madness of spiral tribe, this is a track that quickly brings things into disrepute. on the b-side menace 808 revisits the electro/breakbeat rave sound with all sorts of twists and turns that eventually drops into a pure unashamed hands in the air breakdown, one for the fields and festivals this summer? you know it is. closing with the pacy, glitched up breaks of talon, anodyne proves once again that when it comes to haunting yet majestically uplifting dancefloor music, there are few better in the game.
new artist gert p loads up his debut 12- for earwiggle ! earwiggle is the techno label from sunil sharpe a new artist on earwiggle, gert p loads up his debut 12-. harking back to the glory days of german/dutch hardcore techno - gert explores this sound in a modern context, recalibrating to a more regular tempo, and zoning in on some of the key ingredients. hoovers, barking dogs and raw acid are put through their paces over four tracks that move from dark ( takke ) to happy ( loopjongen ). for fans of the mover / pcp, dj gizmo, k.n.o.r. records and more. hakke!
• the return of the welsh wizard, dez williams !
• earwiggle is the techno label from sunil sharpe
• our next release sees the welcome return of dez williams. since his first ep on the label in 2013, a lot has happened for the welsh wizard. releases for shipwrec, bedouin, new flesh and bass agenda have followed, while his reputation as a killer live act has continued to grow. opening with lumphammer, dez harks back to a time when big, brooding basslines were king. add in whistling keys, tribal percussion and a few well-timed breakdowns, and you have what is surely one of his biggest tracks to date. order to fight takes a more aggressive route - a vocal-fused slab of raw acid, it leads nicely onto the flip, where kabin feeva s wild roaring synths are tuned specifically for the headstrong. work like crazy meanwhile, sees dez return to his roots with a bass heavy cut of crunched electro, doused in a dark filtered vox.
the return of faetch - four tracks of real 2016 techno earwiggle is the irish techno label from sunil sharpe following the earth-shifting faetch 1, which was played by practically every techno dj worth their salt, tibetan entity faetch returns for the next part in the ongoing saga. sturdy, rolling drums and fiery vocal bursts on jeidge signal early chaos on the a-side, moving onto the pure techno funk of wershif - a definite ear wiggler if ever we heard one. on the b-side faecel is tense, more heads-down fare, not at all dissimilar to cari lekebusch s classic early drumcode material. closing the ep is cargoe , where jittery broken rhythms ricochet off rave stabs and echoed vocals & sound fx. another crucial faetch four-tracker here, for fans of inventive dancefloor techno.
earwiggle welcomes back the very talented oliver rosemann features superb sleeparchive remix following his early appearance on earwiggle as one half of dualit, oliver rosemann returns with a killer ep all of his own. creepy, niggling hooks weave their way around three surging rosemann originals, with a hefty remix from berlin master sleeparchive at his brutal best...

following the massive double pack compilation ‘eight wigglin ways to die’, earwiggle return with the debut of a fresh artist, faetch. although a new name on the scene, faetch s advanced take on harder edged techno is far from the work of a rookie it would seem. four tearing club tracks here that contain all the ingredients needed to move the party into another dimension: firing rhythms, strange sampling, manic synth programming, unique sound design... we could keep going. faetch 1 is simply a corker and strong addition to the earwiggle catalogue.
• great collection of raw and frenzied battle tools from this trensmat artist
• limited to 250 copies on red vinyl
• the 15 dead minutes - a collaborative effort from three well established uk techno / electro artists
starting with the melting frequencies of underground persistent, acid is in control. like an emmanuel top and kosmik messenger track if they d ever collaborated, this combines swingy 808 drums and masterful detroit strings to a searing acid-line that keeps going and going.
often overlooked in american techno history are the weird and wonderful flavours to have emanated from the mid-west over the years. no two finer exponents have there been than minnesotas paul birken and freddy fresh. their contributions date back to the early nineties when freddy was exploring the possibilities of extreme techno (via labels like labworks, experimental and his own analog) - an activity that paul took up a while later after debuting on woody mcbrides renegade communique label in 1996. teaming up for the first of two collaborations on this 12 inch, paul and freddy open with >the fate of thirty eight< - a belting slab of analogue techno, where machines shriek and squawk like possessed animals on the loose.
the veteran us producer continues the series he started in the 90s with a high-paced, pulsing slice of club techno.its not all high-octane thrills, either, and the offbeat electro of stained is also worth checking.
sonicultures label boss expander kicks it with an ep that will rock the most demanding dance floors. oh yes, the sweet sound of techno fills our ears with joy as we listen to two original tracks and a remix from well-known producer tadeo. >the waggler< is a bass driven ride on a roller coaster of madness. nifty synths and processed sounds are combined and mixed in a progressive manner, leading to a journey where flows of energy go different ways. the moments are there. the music is powerful. as it should be. spains own techno master tadeo from cyclical tracks, delivers another approach to >the waggler<, making it more pumping and enhanced with a touch of retro and a combination of futuristic sounds. a great remix from one of the most talented producers in the current scene. with >the wiggler<, expander rides towards a more hypnotic direction, still fuelled by heavy basslines and analogue sounds. the synth arrangements are totally mental and there is a sweet touch of darkness to the composition that makes everything even more interesting. are you a waggler or a wiggler? the choice is your
with the release of >free k. loudwiggle< the accumulation of impressions from over the last 2 years has ended. the musical production took about 21 months working in berlin and the circle. during the productionperiod my technical tools and instruments enormously developed making it a very inspiring time to create and arrange rythmics and harmonies.
at a dark night in autumn 2009 i decided to move back from berlin to the circle. back around christmas 2009 the quiet wintermonths took over and re-created the studio in the circle where i was able to sitdown and mixdown the tracks i created over the last 21 months in berlin.
for the first time i decided to give this particular album the unique touch by handmaking all the artwork. every single record has been handstamped both sides, the covers manually printed and put together. all 200 pieces are different and have their own singular identity. now, at the end of june 2010 i can present this big collection of expressions. quagmire ltd is a small platform to release this debutalbum. limited to 200 pieces of triplepack 12 inch including 13 mixes.
