the great lake swallows ist eine zusammenarbeit zwischen der kanadischen cellistin julia kent und dem belgischen gitarristen/bandmaschinenmanipulator jean d.l. aufgenommen in charleroi, belgien im jahr 2015 w�hrend einer videoinstallation mit sandrine verstraete, entstand die musik aus feldaufnahmen, bearbeiteter gitarre und cello und dient als soundtrack zu dem gleichnamigen video. das album ist ein ambientes wunderland, das auf schritt und tritt sch�nheit hervorbringt. es wurde als ganzes gebaut und sollte auch als ganzes konsumiert werden. die wiederholung ist hypnotisierend, ein beruhigendes gef�hl der ruhe, das von einem hauch von unbehagen umgeben ist, welches nahtlos in verschlafene melodien und gebrochene drones �bergeht. die vier teile die sich �ber einen kurzen zeitraum von sechsundzwanzig minuten entfalten, enthalten keinen ton zuviel. alles, was darin enthalten ist, f�hlt sich notwendig an, jeder satz bringt den n�chsten, ein gespr�ch zwischen zwei herausragenden musikern.
