ritornell’s richard eigner & abby lee tee originally teamed up to provide the score for a collaboration with filmmaker andreea sasaran and illustrator katja seifert entitled »melting sphere«. sharing a passion for the combination of filigree electronics with playful timbres of diverse acoustic instruments and odd utensils, the cooperation of the two producers was a logical choice.
»melting sphere« merges subsonic bass, kalimba rhythms, accordion sounds and toy bells, all framed by eavesdropping recordings of abby lee tee’s cat, bathroom squeaks for five minutes of organic downbeat bliss.
»tired dancers« on the flipside offers a melancholy tale of seduction relayed from the shadows, with field recordings of nightly city noise, a reversed music box melody, hypnotic chords and meticulous percussion. delicate, celestial cello (by lukas lauermann) and contrabass flute emerge as counterpoint to this rhythmic hypnosis.
this record is as shimmering as you would expect.

aquarium eyes ist das zweite album des österreichischen duos ritornell. ihr erstling golden solitude erschien 2009 ebenfalls auf karaoke kalk. akustische und elektronische klänge verschmelzen auf aquarium eyes. aufnahmen, die mit viel liebe zum detail (unter anderem im studio von patrick pulsinger) entstanden sind, werden behutsam in den ritornell-klangkosmos eingewoben. durch subtile elektronische verfremdungen entwickeln instrumente wie klavier, kontrabass, vibrafon, kalimba und akkordeon ein überraschendes eigenleben, um sich momente später im zischen und fauchen elektronischer gerätschaften aufzulösen. unterdessen werden sie umspielt vom funkeln mehrschichtiger elektro-akustischer drones. einzelne organische geräusche und sublime texturen komplettieren die detaillierten arrangements.

mussurunga - that is the name which is used by the complete body inked cousins sigi aigner and didi bruckmayr for their outstanding performances on club dance-parties, festivals, free-parties and weddings in the home- and foreign-countries since more than two years. at their shows they use deep bass-lines, demanding beats, gentle hooklines and raging 3-d objects. the large sized mr. state-opera-chorister aigner and the dwarfish universal-bush-leaguer dr. bruckmayr also are known for their benedictional work with the performance-group fuckhead, for them they count as finded minds. mussurunga is a frowing suburb of the brazilian provincial capital salvador da bahia, which aigner and bruckmay vistied job related. while one of them waited without success for a date in mussurunga and spent all the spondulix which was meant for the taxi, the other one worked very hard in the regional beach-bars on artistic concepts. the result of this jobshare is, among other things, the present ep.

in vier neuinterpretationen verschmilzt der tiefgründige charakter des aktuellen douglas greed albums krl mit dem groove ausgewählter produzenten. so erfährt das ohnehin bemerkenswert vielschichtige werk nochmals eine mitreißende erweiterung seines atmosphärischen klangspektrums. rundfunk3000 gestalten das experimentelle shiver mit ihren gut gelaunten beats und warmen instrumentierungen aus, wodurch der titel zum tanzen einlädt, ohne auf die verträumte stimme von sängerin delhia zu verzichten. auch der sentimentale gesang aus pain bleibt erhalten, acid pauli balanciert ihn jedoch gewitzt mit einem perkussiven cumbia-rhythmus und dessen südamerikanischem frohsinn aus. mollono.bass wiederum nutzt die emotionale kraft jener stimme für eine hypnotische, eskalierende, zum ende gar in zwitschernde acid-zitate ausufernde dancefloor-abfahrt. den abschluss bildet die akustische song-version von morning gloria aus dem studio von mooryc, ein atmosphärisches destillat des sinnlich-besinnlichen originals.
