cryovac recordings seeks out characters that give depth to the soundscape of detroit s underground. cryovac individuals believe in their path and stand for their art. ray7 is a multifaceted musical being surviving an ever evolving technosphere. he is an unknown hero that holds his own sonicly on any side of the planet. ray7 provides the power needed for the cryovac machine to hatch a new plot. cryovac exists due to the efforts of craftsmen and artists that work together to make something unique. side a starts with an ancient zulu chant that provides protection as well as a funky sort of techno break pop. the next track grinds in to a ruff and gritty narration of ghetto mind-set under the influence of classic electro. a constant roll moves the last track into addition and subtraction inside of a spartan groove that breaks and turns with strength. side b opens with a busy 4/4 be-bop lackadaisically drifting with dreamy synth over the chatter of voice, hi-hats, and reverb broken down by a 303 buzzing. track two is a dark and sloppy incomprehensible subliminal sing-a-long building and ebbing around a stark kick and clap.

arsat is the first argentinian telecom satellite launched into orbit. arsat gets the rocket ready to ignition: a repeated stabs loop manages the take-off with success. on remix duties, up-and-coming argentinian talent julixo delivers a jacking chicago-style interpretation of arsat. with beltran, the rocket starts its launch into space: although fast paced, the track brings some harmonious dubby elements and nice violins in the mix to calm down the expecting crowd: it s all going to be ok. formula ends the e.p. like a celebration of the satellite s geostationnary slot: a hard hitting, percussion driven, techno track where the stabs penetrate deep under your skin. not for the faint hearted!

solid stomping galactic techno powered by wide filtered discoid samples is the trademark sound of marieu, and the a side of the fifth settlement of his own label enlightened wax discloses his manipulation talent at its best. 2 funky acidic dancefloor killers with a shrouded hoodian influences. for the b side, he recovered 2 gold dust recordings of the misterious nightjars.two broken bass driven gems of warehouse garage deeply inspired by tempa earliest releases and reminiscents of horsepower productions early works. mnemonic has been played already for more than 2 years by artists such as ben ufo, pariah and blawan before being pressed on wax by marieu.

the “meet us at the loft” e.p. is a various artists project marking the third release from new york born and now berlin based label l.a.g. it’s an eclectic record featuring rising producers dj richard, hinode, jon hester as well as label head arthur kimskii’s first solo release. various cuts featuring dub techno tones with house inflections are offered from arthur kimskii and jon hester. left field leaning expressions steeped with soul, dynamic percussive rhythms and driving toms anchors the offering from dj richard. analog warmth in the form of electro from hinode rounds out the release.

usually i disagree with almost anything fashion designers have to say, but when i was compiling this ep i remembered this quote by the iconic german designer and finally exactly understood what he means. i realized why i react so strongly to den haans music. like proper italo disco its so wrong it must be right. the two glaswegian producers do everything right when it comes to pushing buttons on the dancefloor. to follow their releases on dissident, optimo music and their own imprint courier of death, they have put together this ep that sums up their impeccable feel for hi-nrg / italo fueled dancefloor madness.

after releasing brand new material on dum034, dum records are dipping into the label boss’s production archives for the next one: it is a reissue that features tracks from a number of classic mono junk releases. two came on trope records, one in 1995 and one in 1993, and the last pair of cuts come from 1996 when they were released on plug research. arguably some of the influential finnish producer’s finest work, all of the tracks here emphasize how long he is operating on the top of his game already.
