jonny nash (guissian curve / melody is truth) and firecracker s lindsay todd get barefoot and turn out a stunner of an lp. over the course of twelve compositions we find the pair utilising their recordings in a whole host of ways, avoiding the well-trodden cliches of the exotic and instead attempting to achieve a personal interpretation of the flora, fauna and climate of the island. spending time amidst the insects, rice fields and scorching sun, the pair gathered a library of found sounds which were then taken back to a studio space to be stretched, mangled and manipulated alongside a variety of electronic and acoustic instruments. the outdoor studio itself became a living instrument, with the duo setting up multiple microphones for durations of up to 12 hours around the space, layering and processing the results in tracks such as fauna mapping and a series of small frogs

with his 3rd album dear stranger, duesseldorf artist tg mauss appeared 2013 for the first time on berlins quality music label karaoke kalk. proving once more his skills in meshing up folk pop with electronic music, he left a big mark at hans nieswandt (whirlpool productions), who now throws the track ghosts into the club: a grooving funk bass played by levent canseven meets a rattling hi-hat and spacey soundeffects. mauss voice makes the disco ball and our dancing hearts pause for a moment, just to explode on the dance floor. thats what you call state-of-remix-art.

tim green werden einige kennen von seinen platten auf dem us label dirty bird. tim ist ein enormes talent und schafft es hier mit seinem a-seiten stück >mr dry< die gefühle hochzukochen. >mr dry< ist eines dieser stücke das kindliche züge in uns in erinnerung ruft und uns gefallen daran finden lässt, mal richtig aus der haut zu gehen und die arme hochzuwerfen. das hört und fühlt man gerne... depression raus aus dem alltag und rein in die techno welt. spätestens wenn die runtergepitchte stimme von tim green kommt, geht eh nichts mehr. wie der man das mit einfachsten mittel bewirkt, dass ist wahre kunst. man merkt auch bei diesem track, tim hat noch viel tricks auf lager für die zukunft. das rückseiten stück >glow worm< ist so etwas wie der kleine bruder der a-seite. hier wird der ball flachgehalten, die stimmung ist eher dark und die stimme haucht etwas ins mikrophon. das geschieht alles mit einer gewissen unterkühlten art die auch sexy ist. schritt für schritt zieht die dramatik an und das stück und wird immer funkiger...

was im original verbraucht wirkt, bringt jamie jones in seinem mix auf hochglanz. alter polier !! rerelease
