we are very proud and happy to present the new reference from rotten city records. after the releases with original works from tronik youth, a jokers bizarre (jokers of the scene + club bizarre) and dj rocca, with great remixes from artists such as red axes, timothy j. fairplay, justin robertson or mr tc, now it’s the turn of the spanish trio cannibal ink.

rotten city records welcomes a new citizen, but not a newcomer tothe scene. he is luca rocca atagliati, best known as dj rocca, a veteran dj and producer from italy, half ajello, half supersonic lovers, half from crimea, a third of electric tree and regular contributor with legendary dj’s like daniele baldelli or dimitri from paris. after his multiple releases on labels like is it balearic?, nang or futureboogie, luca joins to our beloved rotten city with two original tracks showing his darker, narcotic and narrative side, concocting a bizarre and labyrinthine disco, which develops a spiral shaped staircase from the inside.

during their european tour earlier this year, canadian duo jokers of the scene stopped over for a couple of days at club bizarre studio in northern france. the two pair of producers locked up and came up with betaville and breakwater, two killer lo-fi and spaced out tracks. betaville is a fuzzy dream that will make you dance in slow motion with your head in the clouds. boasting a strong melodic and nostalgic feel, it unfolds its warm analog synth pads, old school sequences and drum machine to psychedelic effect. imagine boards of canada wanting to make you dance. even slower is breakwater, a dirtier, chunkier track that ditches the softness of betaville in favour of a more in your face bass line and all together rougher attitude. it chugs along to old fashioned beat box claps and percussion and quirky synth melodies. lastly betaville gets the timothy j fairplay treatment of being violently pulled apart and chucked in all corners. reminiscent of early chemical brothers music, a heavy beat slaps over agressive drugged up analog sound effects while a repetitive, haunting melody screams on top and reverberated vocals whisper in your ears. scary.

new label based in madrid, run by alvaro cabana and his partner in crime juliana leyva, born to maximize synergies between different music scenes, breaking barriers to get to a common factor:quality music without pigeonholing. tronik youth has made a name making re-edits as well as original and remixes on his own label nein and on others like gomma or southern fried. red axes and richard sen join in offering us their personal visions of -malice of absence-, track that has been chosen to open the label.
