what do you get when you cross a frenchman, a dane, two irishmen and a swede? the debut various artists compilation from kyoku records, of course. gathering the producers who make up their whole discography thus far, the melbourne-based imprint are welcoming back dorsi plantar, sune, long island sound and ethyene (alongside folamour and marc bianco). translating from japanese to a befitting -dancing birds-, the odoru tori ep is revitalizing the elegant origami series for one last spin. the orizuru, hachidori, oumu and hakucho, that is, the paper crane, the hummingbird, the parrot and the swan are bringing the handmade array to a suitable conclusion. on the a side, the scandinavian connection is responsible for bringing some summer heat. dorsi plantar sheds his usual wistfulness for a slightly moodier, more functional track with -senorita lolita-, although still incorporating some of that playful sampling he s now come to be known for. -californicate- from sune takes a more laidback approach and channels the breezy and carefree atmosphere of the coastal golden state. on the flip side, long island sound follow the same recipe that made -delusions- such a big hit with the intricate sampling and eloquent arrangement of -ease in-. to top things off, ethyene, with the help of folamour and marc bianco, close out the record with a groovy, vocal number that sees them employ their signature french touch formula to great effect on the simply titled -good-.
malmö s own sune fills in for better listen s tenth release, continuing a run of sweet scandinavian finds for the label. the butter love ep is a true reflection of the crime city man s sound jovial, dusty disco and soul samples adorned by heady drum machine programming.
my third week in amsterdam i found my way to a small speakeasy tucked away amongst a labyrinth of cobbled alleyways. a doorman waved me inside, a knowing smile twisted around the half-smoked blunt hanging from his lips. i made my way down crooked, narrow stairs into a dimly lit room full of patrons nodding in the haze, feet tapping in time as they smiled and sipped at green-tinged cocktails. the soft sound of glasses clinking amongst murmured conversation served to accentuate the flaw in the scene before me, there was no music. realising i d paused in the entrance long enough to draw a few amused looks from the tables nearest me, i regained my composure and headed towards the bar, pondering the mystery before me. i reached the counter as the barman was mixing a cocktail and waited, but before i could order the man turned and placed a glass in front of me, the same half smile on his lips the doorman had shown me as he nodded at a specials board listing a pistachio sour. it sounded good so i took it to an empty seat and returned to my examination of the bizarre room. as i sat down a grinning girl next to me offered a toke on her joint, and as the no indoor-smoking law was clearly being ignored here i gratefully took a careless draw. as my coughing subsided i took a deep gulp of my drink, and suddenly music flooded my ears. my jaw dropped as i raised my head to see a guy on stage mesmerising the crowd with chill beats, house music permeating the formerly silent bar. the girl with the joint smiled at my amazement. his name s sune she told me, welcome to 8 till late.

in early 2017, the young australians from parcels may have only released a couple of tracks and yet they are already being compared to »humanized daft punk who would decide to jam along with steely dan and frank ocean.«
the self-produced hideout ep was created over two years. what remains in early 2017 is a unified piece, an ep that is essentially pop but which shines in a unique, exciting and down right groovy light. as a first completed release from parcels, the hideout ep covers a lot of ground.
tracks range from driving electro thumps to softer pop taps. but what is clear in the end is that parcels bring a unique brand of pop music and deliver it with infectious and emotive dance: »already the musicians have made a statement with their harmonious feel-good funk-pop.« (the 405)
parcels are a funk-pop group from byron bay australia, sounding like a unique blend of contemporary electronica and matured funk disco, where wide synth soundscapes and an electronic rhythm section meet spirited guitars and five-part vocal harmony.
nice price deal !!! kitsune newbies, cazals, are set to release their first single life is boring on march 3rd. and they re out of the gates backed with remixes by chewy chocolate cookies and ali love and oh ya, and additional two remixes by some guys called crookers...
nice price deal !!! the track has already been a surprising banger on many mental nights around europe during digitalism dj sets and live stes. wired got people wired and fingerlicking at miami winter music conference. jence is rooted amongst the youngsters of the >new generation< that is just about to take over clubland worldwide (boys noize, passions, guns n bombs …) entering the world of jence : an electric dark realm of ghettotronic hardware sounds, triple distorted, as rough as your moves after a bottle of vodka
nice price deal !!! first single of english synth-melodic pop band chew lips on kitsuné. with remixes of tepr and david sugar. there is nothing quite usual about chew lips. not their way of making music, or their live shows, or indeed, their inception. when the vocalist tigs and multi-instrumentalists james watkins and will mcdonald decided to start making music together they had only one edict: not to sound like just another guitar band. the result was the organic and purely accidental evolution of their current, electronically enhanced sound every song sounds like it could be a planet-bestriding, galaxy swallowing pop smash, with will and james gorgeously whirling and mutating casiotone/guitar/bass/drum machine attack providing the perfect backdrop when the amazing frontwoman tigs s voice soars, swoops and dips precipitously and smoulders beautifully. with their first single solo on kitsuné, chew lips alternately capture the yearning, impatience, beauty, confusion and impermanence of youth, with tigs summing up the hopes and dreams of a whole generation with the fist-pumping battlecry of >we dont want to wait, theres no time, no time<. this is pop music alright, but pop with a gloriously vivid, almost cinematic sweep, as well as a human heart, filled with a very real sense of longing and desire, in amidst the shiny, clattering electronica. french producer tepr, well known for his remix of yelle >a cause des garcons<, has made of the song a dancefloor anthem while david sugar smoothly delivers an uplifted version of the track.
nice price deal !!! incl. rmxs by david e. sugar & data two kitsune 12inch in one week… can we stand so much hypster fashion power? yes when it consists of two amazing singles like this. newcomer big face delievers an ultra-über slacker hymn with an explosive break, while david e. sugar takes the whole track to the paradise garage. on the b-side we have the extraordinary multisync. layered data remix in an opera style
nice price deal !!! jesper mortensen, one half of junior senior, has decided to take a different approach to song craft on his new side project >i scream ice cream<. jesper defies the standard approach to songwriting by fleshing-out the most interesting aspects of pop music â€,“, including the punchy hooks that he is renowned for through junior senior, within a dance track structure. in ice cream ice cream jesper showcases his skillful craftsmanship with a more improvisational hand, using drum machines, synths, percussion, vocals and loads of scratching to create a whole out of many smaller parts. and, ultimately, succeed in not playing by the rules.
nice price deal !!! the less we can say is that mark ronson is some kind of a music genius. he neither anticipated any of his successes, nor does he believe they are true now. after making three succesfull albums and producing three of the biggest stars in the world, lily allen, amy winehouse and adele, mark ronson is now releasing >record collection 2012< his new single on kitsune!
featuring pharrell williams, mndr, wiley and wretch 32, this new version of the song >record collection< brings more style and energy to the original version with its catchy tune and lyrics! the single is backed by amazing remixes by some of the hottest acts around, namely css, logo, moonlight matters, and plastic plates, and which, according to ronson himself, are all certified f***in bangas!

the success of >twist< released with yuksek aka peter in peter and the magician, which was heard in the playlists of some of the best djs around the world, has contributed to increase the magician reputation among djs and electro lovers…
the only thing we could hear from him until then were his magic tapes, available on soundcloud with no tracklisting so as to keep the mystery around them… there again, the concept has created so much excitement among music aficionados that the magician has already released thirteen of them!
>i dont know what to do< is a pure dance jewel enlightened by jeppes voice! as for the club mix and the remixes by fabian and plastic plates, they are definitely more electronic and punchy and will be all perfect for the club times!

great new release from the kitsune stable. and this is a sure shot. simplicity and logic are logos ephemeral aesthetics mammals. the writing is not narrative, the speech does not have a say. logo does not tell stories. logo is kitsunes latest signing and they really strike a blow with their first ep >la vie moderne< which already features two hits: >junocide< and >la vie moderne<, both in their original and auto-remixed versions.
delphic return this summer with their new single ‘this momentary’on kitsune, with remixes from parallels, golden bug and radioproof.released on the perma-chic french indie label kitsune, whose ability to spot tomorrow’s stars remains as strong asever, delphic’s ‘this momentary’ is a subtly blissed outblast of euphoria that takes in both the crisp drive of minimaltechno and the epic scope of bands like muse or radioheadto create something entirely their own and entirely new andbeguiling.>the guitar is dead, long live the guitar<, proclaim themanchester trio, fresh from supporting orbital and currentlybusy working on their new album, blurring the boundariesbetween indie and electronics until preconceived notions ofgenre have lost all meaning.their debut single ‘counterpoint’ pointed the way forward toa shining future straddling the hedonistic worlds ofglastonbury and berlin, while this summer has been spentcombining festival dates with working with producer ewanpearson in crafting a future classic steeped in bothintrospection and hedonism.the first results are ‘this momentary’, a restrained lyric gentlybuilding over sharply driving techno beats until it becomes aeuphoric future stadium anthem.
this summer beni will continue to reign the dancefloor supreme with a new monster slab of black plastic, maximus featuring vocals from the mighty sam sparro. who put the fun in acid-funk you ask? the answer is: beni did. a low-slung exercise in dark and dirty arpeggiated sleaze, maximus marries a sparse bubble-groove that creeps up behind you and licks your ear with a very purple vocal performance by sparro to devastating effect. the resulting track is something akin to kiss-era prince and friends dirty dancing at a toga party while ancient rome burns down around them. on the flipside beni and nicky night time give maximus a night-time re-dub rubdown, taking the track away from the creepy funk freak and towards a straighter slammer jammer, favouring blatant dancefloor manipulation over the subtle and the sexy. also featured (and included on the next kitsune maison 7 installment) is fringe element, which encapsulates the feeling of surfing on a shooting star like never before, with beni sitting proudly at the controls. an electronic orchestra of descending basslines, vocoder snippets, bleeps and acid squeaks, fringe element caps off another compelling chapter in benis lifelong voyage through dance. after the cover of his first ep my love sees you made by geneviÞve gauckler, his new 12 is illustrated by french artist andre.
LISZTOMANIA REMIXES (DER DIE DAS, HOLY GHOST, CLASSIXX REMIX)
12" Vinyl FR17.06.09
lisztomania is the first single of the much acclaimed new phoenix album wolfgang amadeus phoenix . kitsune have asked the new electro scene to remix it and this led to this great and exciting ep! new yorkers holy ghost! (dfa), with this great version of crystal fighters xtatic truth, put everyone in agreement - on their knees. la based classixx deliver a production thats evocative of a corvette in the sun, carefree, before it all gets dangerously heated up. quite convenient too when youre fifteen (at least spiritually) to french kiss for a whole five minutes. finally half of digitalism, der die das, brings the track to the dancefloor with an uplifted and breathtaking version.
