unless you re too young to know or have been living under a rock for the past twenty years, there s little chance that you haven t come across marc romboy s music in one way or another. the systematic recordings boss has had many irons on the fire since establishing his first imprint, the now defunct le petit prince - gathering an untold number of releases on labels as diverse as ovum, innervisions, rebirth or 20:20 vision in his two decades of intense activity. tracing back to 1994, when he used to rummage through the crates of delirium - the primitive incarnation of kompakt (closed and revived under its new name in 1998), the friendship between romboy and the kompakt family has largely withstood the test of time. after losing touch for a few years, romboy and michael mayer would resume contact during a festival in the south of france - a reunion that eventually led to systematic joining kompakt s distribution catalogue a couple months later.

incepted just three years after the beginning of the kompakt venture in 2001, it s safe to say the speicher series holds a very special place in both the heart of the label and its audience s. taking the helm for the 102nd instalment in the catalogue (and the first speicher to feature 3 tracks) we find an eclectic squad of producers triangulating from all corners of the globe but united by their boundless science of the groove. longtime friends turned studio companions, enzo elia (of balearic gabba soundsystem fame) and musumeci join forces for the first time on the unfaltering late night hip-swayer gothic safari , kicking things off with a relentless deep dancefloor epic à la Âme.

christian nielsen is a musician you would not immediately expect to see behind the speicher / kompakt extra crest. we love to surprise your ears and have enjoyed for some time his outsider approach to any genre he chooses to tackle. in particular with “hard times” – a prime-time melodic monster that bridges the right transitions. right when you need them to. berlin via belgium techno juggernaut locked groove has been on our radar for ages thanks to releases on hotflush and afterlife. “dawn” is one of those magical tunes that loop along but evolves with every listen. you hold us to it that we think it could be the best set opener 2017 will have to offer. intricate drums balance well with lush minimalistic melodies. our speicher series rapidly heads towards 100. where it goes, only we know - so savour the flavour while it lasts.

frankfurter wumms meets iberisches groovegefühl. toni rios ist stamm-dj in sven väths cocoon club. und auch sonst ist er weltbekannt und beliebt. kein wunder, denn toni ist cool. toni hat uns musik geschickt, die perfekt auf kompakt extra passt. weil sie ist ganz schön dick untenrum. und obenrum passieren auch tolle dinge. wenn man oben und unten zusammen nimmt, dann entsteht etwas komplettes. beide tracks sind leuchtende beispiele für eleganten techno im jahre 2007

alter schwede. das bolzt gut los. jürgen paape is back und macht keine gefangenen. geradlinig schieben sich die tracks durch das vernebelte dickicht der tanzfläche. techno !

hier dreht es sich ungelogen um eines der übertriebensten stücke musik aller zeiten: die apokalypse, takt für takt gefühlvoll neu erzählt. grandios
