just like him, acid pauli has been on the go during the last years, building up new collabos with labels such as crosstown rebels, clown & sunset, and artists such as nicolas jaar, damian lazarius. so, now it is time to treat the own label smaul to another release.

after his rather menacing vision called >worlds end< (hometrainer/acid pauli 12inch, dec 2010) acid pauli pulls another two typical tricky tracks out of his musical drawer. but, to confuse right from the scratch, he gave them polarizing names such as >like it< and >dont like it<. has he possibly planted something on us?

may this record be understood as a diabolic statement coming along with the winter season or even as an affront?
hometrainers affinity of doomed dispositions (possibly seen as humor) might be known to a few by tracks from the early 2k. now he turns the table and shouts out: >get up to nowhere.< sounds like an offense he made. acid pauli did like this right in time to produce another track that points it metaphorically out.

this man cant currently be stopped. following his releases through the 2nd season 2009 (>marvin” on compost, >smaul 06< & >smaul 07<) in january 2010 acid paulis >riverboat tour< came out. now, it seems he opens this years summer season with these two psychedelic thrilling tracks. even though he had been touring a lot with the notwist last year, acid pauli was pretty often an invited, musically refreshing guest in berlins minimal techno (what ever) scene. den mahlstrom rauf leaves no doubts about. great build up he does by keeping tension over five minutes to unlash finally the madness charge with a levitating reverse-ducking-compressed melody. den mahlstrom runter (a play on words of travelling on a boat and getting milled…) seems to be the return from the trip he gives on side a. it is the same track reworked. his musical drama goes faster but deeper under the cortex – but >how lucky a fate< deliverance comes at right time taking the track over to a known housy and deep realm.

smaul recordings should not be suggestive of being fed by productions of acid pauli, only. however, creative times need being used and martin gretschmann - aka console - member of the notwist - alias acid pauli has collected lots of material whilst the scarce time left last year. on smaul 07 he follows his self-weaved red thread of the year. acid pauli confides more & more in a certain house rhythm paired with these melancholic layered sound-synthesis, already well known by him. astonishing things emerge out of acid paulis musical waves, sometimes even scientially croon quite a bit. nymbiotic (a) comes relaxed but holds a great melody up in the sleeve - seasonly peppered. symbiotic (b) rests bit on minimal house, but acid pauli never relied on that genre. thus, this track does not remain as it seems after three minutes. glitches and sounds break it up to evolve a new symbiosis. symbiotic becomes more timeless in spite of siren-climax peaks and an obsessive string chorus fading in the end.

now, here comes daniel herrmanns (aka flug 8) debut album >lösch dein profil< in english >erase you profile< or >delete user<. fully packed with metaphors he overdraws to understate. flug 8 cannot be nailed on any genre-board, but creates a homogeneous melancholic music stuffed up with secret hopes, by reducing it on a hand full of sounds and a certain range of simplified tunes. might this be true kraut-techno?
